It doesn’t take long for them to settle into a routine of less direct communication and more her just doing her job and him dealing with the fact he needs help. Although one of my favorite quotes from the book comes when she has to help him get in the shower and she’s making her way out of the bathroom because:
...if I see any more of his naked skin, ,I’m going to go all Katniss on him and start screaming “I volunteer!” when he decides he needs his back washed.
Or her comparison of him with fictional characters:
If Knox was a Disney character, he’d definitely be Flynn Ryder because he definitely has the smolder down.
These are just a couple of samples of the simple humor found mixed with their story. It isn’t all hearts and flowers and it isn’t easy, but they way it all plays out made me thankful for their story and that Ms Teevan shared it with us.
AND that epilogue, holy heck!! I loved this story and can’t wait to dive into the next in the series!
**** ALSO, as a lover of this series, I felt the wedding scene with Jace & Alexa was extra special. Jace’s vows were perfect and I couldn’t have imagined it any better. ****
I started this right after reading Ignite (because I just found this amazing author) and loved every single page! Knox was just awesome and Charlie was the perfect match for him! I loved hearing about Jace and Lexi and the epilogue...amazing! Now im off to read Inflame!! Tessa Teevan you have just become my new go to author!!!
We met Knox in Intoxicate, but really didn't get to know him, and now we finally do. After dealing with the explosion and everything that happened, Knox is back and on his road to recovery. What he doesn't realize is that the volunteer Charlie that is going to be helping him while Cohen is back at school is someone he won't be able to deny.
When Charlie (aka Charlotte) goes to the bar with her friends the night before her new volunteer assignment starts, she's intrigued by this sexy and rugged looking man. After dealing with a cheating fiance, she hasn't been interested in men, but something about this man makes her interested. When she introduces herself, and he's blows her off, she doesn't understand and goes back to hanging out.
The next day, both Charlie and Knox are surprised to find out that they will be spending a lot of time together. Knox is Charlies new volunteer assignment, and Knox doesn't know what to do about it.
To say that these two get along like oil and water is an understatement. They are both strong and bullheaded and love to push the others buttons. Watching these two butt heads is hilarious and the sexual chemistry between the two is hard to deny. Charlie doesn't want a one night stand, and is only interested in a relationship, and knowing how Knox is, she decides only being friends with him is for the best. Knox is drawn to Charlie, but doesn't want to make any moves on her, and so therefore they are stuck in the "Friend Zone".
The two of them definitely become great friends, and you can see the struggle between both of them to keep it as strictly friends, but when Knox decides enough is enough, is when things really got hot between these two. I loved watching these two get to know one another and working through their pasts, but I absolutely loved watching them as a couple. Their strong will and personalities make for an interesting time, and I loved every single second of it.
Watching Knox start to open up about his past, and trying to move forward was amazing to watch. My heart hurt for him and the things he has been put through from his brother and family, and I loved watching him make peace with some of these things.
Charlie's character is beautifully written. I loved her sass and her personality. She didn't let anyone mess with her and she was a strong and independent character. I fell in love with her dad and the relationship the two of them have with one another.
I also loved getting to see what was going on with Jace and Alexa and seeing things we didn't see from them in Intoxicate. Everyone of these characters are amazing and I can't wait for more from Kale and Lucy!
Incinerate is beautifully written and a story that isn't just about lust and romance. The characters have depth, and the story just pulls you in. Incinerate can be read as a stand alone, but I highly suggest reading Intoxicate first to get to know Jace and Alexa and the Knox before Charlie walked into his life. I will definitely be reading the rest of the series and hopefully get to see more of Knox and Charlie in those books!
