I did this in spite of countless reviews complaining about fingerprints being a big detractor. Well, my only complaint with the incipio is, low and behold, the fingerprint problem. I didn't think it would be that bad, but it is really, really bad. In addition to fingerprints, it also collects dust which doesn't wipe away very easily.
However, in the end I'm still pretty happy with it. If you have a macbook air you pretty much have to get a hardshell case and there aren't that many good options yet. If it weren't for the overheating problem the speck would have probably been the better bet, but with a major investment like the air I'd much rather have a fingerprint issue than an overheating issue.
What I love:
1. It fits and feels protective.
2. It allows the logo to shine through (instead of a hole for it that many others have -- but also let it dirt. I'd rather the light shine through the translucent plastic than see the logo unobstructed but have a hole for dirt.) (Some of you may think this a downside because you want the logo to shine through.)
3. Great color choices.
4. Nice texture. It's not smooth slippery or jelly feeling, like many of the others I looked at. It is solid and easy to grip.
5. Holes are in the right places.
Downsides, shared by every case on the market:
1. Makes the computer hot. No major problems yet (1 month of use).
2. Adds a bit of bulk and weight to a wonderful streamlined computer.
One complaint is that if your MacBook is resting on one palm and you open the cover with the other hand quickly, you are likely to pinch the skin of the hand that's holding the computer - it didn't break my skin but boy did it hurt.
The other issue is that there is friction between the top and bottom pieces of the shell at the hinge when you open or close the MacBook. The shell rubs against itself but doesn't rub against the body of the computer at all. I ended up using sandpaper along the edges (before I put the case on the computer!). After a couple months of use I don't notice any more friction.
I didn't find any other cases I liked, so despite its flaws I'm quite pleased with this one

Really worth the money to save your laptop from dirt scratches and anything else. Does not add a lot of bulk to your computer. Keeps it thin.Published 9 days ago by Grrlnexdoor
After a couple of weeks I noticed that there were chips forming on the inside of the case, where the sides and corners latch to the laptop. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Cherylann Desdune-Mont
Very sturdy, protected my laptop when it fell on concrete. I've had it for over 2 years and still great.Published 2 months ago by Saly
This product has been a disappointment thus far. Too much of a transition from PC's. Very little is intuitive with this Apple product. I wish I had gotten a new PC instead...Published 5 months ago by travelpro
it's only purple in the sunlight, otherwise it's black. Love it though, and it's opaque so the apple doesn't shine through, which I like.Published 7 months ago by paradoxblu
The design of this case is excellent, but the brilliant design becomes worthless because of the choice of material, which registers all my fingerprints. Read morePublished 14 months ago by Octavio
