You'll enjoy this book if you fancy yourself an open-minded seeker of information and I think you'll enjoy this presentation of facts and history.
Well written and edited. I loved the perspective that this author brings to some very "heated" discussion on our climate. As I read the book, I thought that all his "inconvenient Facts" were well-presented with each point referencing the scientific studies which bring these facts to light.
If you are an AGW fanatic, you might want to read this book to expose yourself to some often-omitted facts about this earth's ever-changing climate. And then after reading the book with an open mind, if you still find yourself clinging unquestioningly to the religion of AGW, you should probably question yourself: why?
OTOH, if you question the religion of AGW because it seems eerily similar to so many other crises you've been hit with during your lifetime, you've been labeled a Denier, probably even called a Deplorable (or worse). Read this book and you'll come away with a much better perspective on why you've been questioning this "settled science" of AGW. Settled science? Even the term itself sounds like something Copernicus would have faced hundreds of years ago when proposing the sun as the center of the solar system, or more recently something the nuclear physicists of the early 1900's would have faced when questioning the immutability of Newtonian Physics. I'm a "settled science" skeptic!
Bottom line: loved the book.

Inconvenient Facts: Debunking Climate Alarmists Commonwealth Foundation 11/2/17
Nov 2, 2017 Gordon Tomb
A mountain of evidence for this view is contained in "Inconvenient Facts: The science that Al Gore doesn't want you to know." Written by Gregory Wrightstone of Pittsburgh, the book puts climate change into a geologic context of billions of years -- a perspective derived fromthe author's 35 years as a geologist.
Mr. Wrightstone's approach contrasts sharply to theclimate alarmist's use of snapshots of time -- whether a century or adecade or a single storm -- to justify discarding economic systems anddestroying people's lives to reduce global temperatures by fractions of a degree.
"I know that the brief hundred or so years of recordedtemperatures--and the even shorter time-frame since the first satellitewas launched--is just a blink of a geologic eye," says Mr. Wrightstone."It is too brief a period to evaluate the data adequately."
Backed by voluminous studies, "Inconvenient Facts"assures that modern warming is neither unusual nor catastrophic. Of thelast 10,000 years since the last major ice age, 6,100 years were warmerthan today. Humans have thrivedin previous periods significantly warmer than our modern age, mostrecently in the 13th century when Vikings farmed Greenland and citrusgrew in England.
Conversely, people have suffered during cold periodssuch as the Little Ice Age (1290-1850), which was marked by famine anddisease.
While the Earth has experienced a steady decline incarbon dioxide levels for more than 500 million years, the book says, recent increases of the wrongly maligned gas is tied to a greening of25-50 percent of the Earth -- a positive, fertilizing effect of higherCO2 levels on plants.
One apocalyptic myth after another -- from the purportedthreats of rising sea levels to vanishing polar bears -- is destroyed byMr. Wrightstone's collection of research. Rather than a world lurchinginto a man-made climate hell from which there is no return, the Earth'secosystems and humankind are thriving.
Written for the non-scientist, the book has more than 90 illustrations and 60 "inconvenient" facts rendered to a sentence ortwo. It effectively debunks proposals for economically destructiveprograms to control the uncontrollable -- a perpetual cycle of glacialice and "blessed warmth" driven by eternal terrestrial and solar forces.
"(T)he first and most important conclusion is that thecorrect policy to address the non-problem of man-made global warming isto have the courage to do nothing," Mr. Wrightstone says.
Nothing, we would add, but to allow humankind thefreedom to advance economically and technologically as it has done sowondrously since the onset of the Industrial Revolution.
Sixty nails in climate alarmism's coffin
By Jerry Shenk November 16, 2017
There are plenty of well-credentialed, objective, if little-publicized,climate skeptics, but few who are able to present their material inlayman's terms to an audience of curious, unschooled, but receptiveclimate truth-seekers.
A new resource provides a point-by-point review and response to each ofthe climate industry's claims, citing the "normalcy" of much of their"alarming" data.
In an entertaining, easy-to-read, elegantly-written,meticulously-researched, well-documented and illustrated 143-page book(including citations) entitled "Inconvenient Facts: The science that Al Gore doesn't want you to know," geologist Gregory Wrightstone presents a clear picture of the climatealarmism that attracts cynical big-government advocates and grips muchof the scientific community, complicit media and the gullible among us.
Wrightstone employs government sources, peer-reviewed publications and otherscholarly works to reassure readers that our Earth has become healthierand more prosperous because of rising carbon dioxide and temperaturelevels, rather than in spite of them.
The book details sixty inconvenient facts. Considering the climatealarmists' persistent clamor about "scientific consensus." Arguably,Inconvenient Fact #31 should have appeared first: "Science is notconsensus and consensus is not science."
Wrightstone's droll observation about the financial incentives driving manycareer-invested scientists to mislead or overstate the "catastrophic"potential of climate change, often without historical or even
Some highlights: Only a trace gas, carbon dioxide isn't the primarygreenhouse gas; CO2's warming effect declines as its concentrationincreases; and CO2 is plant food, so more of it means moister soil, fewer droughts and forest fires, a greener Earth, more plant growth andmore food for humans and animals.
Wrightstone also reveals anxiety over rising temperatures to be just anotherclimate alarm shibboleth. Humans didn't cause 800,000 years ofconstant, normal, cyclical temperature changes, including the past10,000 years, 6,100 of which were warmer than today. In fact, warminghas paused for nearly two decades despite marginal increases in CO2.
Indeed, warmer climates are better than cold ones for humans and most animalspecies. World-wide, annually, there are far more cold-related thanheat-related deaths. Moreover, in addition to a greener Earth, increased CO2 and higher temperatures together provide other shared benefits, including longer growing seasons, more crop cycles and greater humanfood security.
Wrightstone's book serves to reinforce beliefs already held by most practical people: Climate does change -- that's indisputable -- but, rather than spending trillions to "fix" it, practical people would first examine observableevidence and, if persuaded, they would adapt -- just as prehistoric Homo sapiens did entering and exiting the last ice age.
Presented in a format that allows readers to decide, Wrightstone's book is wellworth the time to read. Most importantly, perhaps, it will, inunderstandable, usable terms, provide informed skeptics the informationthey need to resist the progressive alarmists who preach to us all.

The 'Inconvenient Facts' About Global Warming That Al Gore Does Not Want Us to Know
In an era where the Democrats' braintrust, socialists like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, areworking to remove beef from the menu to combat global warming, there's an"Inconvenient App" that makes you and me the smartest climate gurus at thedinner table.
Derived from Gregory Wrightstone'sbook "Inconvenient Facts: The Science Al Gore Doesn't Want You toKnow," this new app features 60 facts that seriously undermineclaims from collectivists that man-made global warming is destroying theplanet.
Tap your Android or iPhone, andthere is a graphic showing that the current warming trend began 300 years ago, wellbefore Henry Ford introduced the Model T or Al Gore invented the internet.
Touch a tab to access a briefanalysis, another tab for a video of Wrightstone's commentary, and a third fora list of references.
It is amazing how much documented -and coherent -- information is packed into this tiny app, making the smartphonean utterly appropriate resource and you a smugly clever person.
Now in its third printing, the bookhas led Wrightstone, a Pittsburgh-based geologist, to scores of television andradio shows and to presentations at colleges, conferences and communitymeetings.
Backed by voluminous studies,"Inconvenient Facts" assures readers that modern warming is neither unusual norcatastrophic. Of the last 10,000 years since the last major ice age, 6,100years were warmer than today (Inconvenient Fact #20). Humans have thrived inprevious periods significantly warmer than our modern age, most recently in the13th century, when Vikings farmed Greenland and citrus grew in England.
Conversely, people have sufferedduring cold periods such as the Little Ice Age (1290-1850), which was marked byfamine and disease.
While the Earth has experienced asteady decline in carbon dioxide levels for more than 500 million years, thebook says, recent increases of the wrongly maligned gas is tied to a greeningof up to 50 percent of the Earth -- a positive, fertilizing effect of higher CO2levels on plants (Inconvenient Fact #37).
One apocalyptic myth after another --from purported threats of rising sea levels to vanishing polar bears -- isdestroyed by Wrightstone's collection of research. Rather than a world lurchinginto a man-made climate hell from which there is no return, the Earth'secosystems and humankind are thriving.
Written for the non-scientist, thebook and the app effectively debunk proposals for economically destructiveprograms to control the uncontrollable -- a perpetual cycle of glacial ice and"blessed warmth" driven by eternal terrestrial and solar forces.
"The first and most importantconclusion is that the correct policy to address the non-problem of man-madeglobal warming is to have the courage to do nothing," Wrightstone says.
This message is sure to interruptthe agenda of Marxists attempting to use fear of the fantasy of man-made globalwarming to advance their dark designs.
The message will also have thebenefit of promoting inevitable bouts of indigestion in the less informed amongus at the dinner table.

Hammering Nails Into Man-Made Global Warming's Coffin
I have a confession to make. I am a climate change skeptic and becoming more so seemingly by the day. It is not that I don't believe that the Earth has warmed over the last 150 or so years, the science clearly supports that contention. I am, however, skeptical of the notion that humans are now responsible for temperature changes and that increasing temperatures are leading to horrible climate-related consequences for the Earth and humanity.
While I am certainly not a scientist nor an expert on climate change, I have consumed a large number of books from both sides of the issue and have an amply stocked bookshelf in my den on the subject. I find that most of books on climate are difficult for the non-scientist to read, much less digest. They tend to be overly technical for the layman, not well-illustrated and commonly overly-politicized.
I discovered my now go-to climate change book "Inconvenient Facts - the science that Al Gore doesn't want you to know" quite by accident nearly six months ago and it is becoming dog-eared from my constant referencing of it. Geologist Gregory Wrightstone's debut book is eminently readable, understandable and very well-illustrated. With more than 90 color illustrations and 14 pages of references, the book treads a hard-to-manage balance between well-researched science and a fascinating read.
Throughout the book, the author provides easily understandable graphics and analysis of his 60 "inconvenient facts." These are facts, backed up by references to NASA, NOAA or peer-reviewed studies, that show in detail and clarity just how wrong much of what I thought that I knew is incorrect.
Wrightstone opens the book with a perfectly apropos quote from H. L. Mencken who references the need for governments and institutions to create "an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary" in order to get its citizens to buy into otherwise harmful policies and regulations. The last half of his book is devoted to dispelling many of these climate "hobgoblins" which he calls "climate apocalypse" events.Using science and data, he systematically takes down notions of increasing tornadoes, hurricanes, heat waves, drought and many more.
Early in the book, prefacing a series of particularly damning "inconvenient facts," Wrightstone writes that they will be "part of the cumulative evidence that will eventually drive the final nails into the coffin of the catastrophic man-made warming theory." He comes back to this analogy of hammering nails into global warming's coffin throughout this seminal book. Now, Mr. Wrightstone has provided me with the hammer with which to drive the nails in the form of a smart phone app.
I have often wished that I had thebook in hand when discussing the subject with colleagues and now, thankfully, the new app allows me to leave the book at home, but to bring the facts with me. The recently released ground-breaking smart phone app is based in his 60inconvenient facts. Each of the facts are presented within the app with a chart or illustration that clearly shows and documents the subject. Included are links to text explaining it, commonly a video created by the author and a link to the source of the data behind the graphic.
Simply put, the app is amazing. The huge amount of information on my phone has given me the ability to speak more confidently to others concerning many aspects of climate change. The book is great, but the app is actually more powerful, in that I see that this can be a game-changer in the debate. I envision citizens that now can confront the notion of pending climate doom by empowering them with the knowledge in the palm of their hand.

From the Author
The genesis of this book was a desire to discover the truth about a link between man's activities and the warming trend that is evident. I trusted no one, so I did a deep dive into the base data and what I found shocked me to the core. In nearly every portion of climate science (which eventually turned into chapters), I found that what I was told by the media was contradicted by the science, facts and data.
About the Author
Gregory Wrightstone is a geologist with more than 35 years of experience researching and studying various aspects of the Earth's processes. He earned a bachelor's degree from Waynesburg University and a master's from West Virginia University, both in the field of geology. He has written and presented extensively on many aspects of geology including how paleogeography and paleoclimate control geologic processes. His findings have allowed him to speak at many venues around the world including Ireland, England, China and most recently India. Gregory is a strong proponent of the scientific process and believes that policy decisions should be driven by science, facts and data, not a political agenda.

The inconvenient truth about Al Gore is that he only took 2 science classes, and barely passed those. In case you didn't know, his predictions, like every other climate alarmist since the 1920's, were wrong. He did, however, major in religion, and has successfully created a new religion, Environmentalism, to which millions of uninformed people have blindly subscribed. Simple, concise and easy to read, this book shows how so-called "scientists" have taken studies and data and cherry-picked, changed, or otherwise misconstrued it to achieve a desired and false outcome. To hear supposedly educated people keep repeating "the polar bears will be extinct without the ice" makes me laugh every time, but it's just one of the myths of climate change that people really believe. Polar bears use ice floes for the same reason you take the bus- it's just easier. Like us, they're not stupid, just a little lazy. The polar ice caps have melted before, and the bears did just fine. In fact, they're doing better now in places that have no ice left than in places that have ice (more food). More CO2 in the atmosphere means more moisture in the air and soil, which means more plants, more food, and healthier animals and humans. I asked a local meteorologist why he (and 99% of all meteorologists) didn't believe in "man-made global climate change". He said, "Because I already have a job." You'll notice the only meteorologists and physicists who do subscribe to it work for government-funded "associations" or foreign governments, and say, "Yes, we believe, so the U.S. and Germany need to give us some money, so we can combat this". This is the biggest fraud in human history. Read this book, it's only about 125 pages, and stop listening to all those people who have a political or monetary agenda. Warm is good (for everybody). Oh, by the way: It's not "97%" of scientists who believe in man-made climate change- it's less than 3%. Al lied, based on a "study" that was false, and the environmentalists just keep repeating it over and over, hoping eventually it will be accepted as fact. It is not "settled science", except in the minds of the climate police. And FYI- neither England nor Florida have been submerged yet, as has been predicted over and over for the past hundred years. Just sayin'. Look up petitionproject online to see the petition 31,000 real scientists sent to congress.

I was recommended to Inconvenient Facts by a friend and on first read was completely taken in. I told my son the headlines from the book, and he decided to thoroughly check it out. He found that it was a blatant misrepresentation of the facts and took several hours walking me through each of the facts which cherry picked data to fit the authors thesis. It really makes we mad. Who paid to have this written?

Wrightstone's "Inconvenient Facts" is a prolific collection of analyses on various common climate change topics that are frequently referred to by those in the media and society who would claim that the climate apocalypse is upon us. But through careful study and presentation of real facts and real evidence, this book addresses each issue frequently brought up by alarmists and explains how, rather than being on the brink of self-destruction, we're actually doing pretty well here on Earth. The bottom line is that Earth has been changing and will continue to change for billions of years, but the human contribution and impact in these changes is ultimately negligible in the grand scheme of Earth's existence.
I would highly recommend this book to everyone who has doubts, or just wants the full picture, of the frequently raised issues that are commonly heard in (especially) the liberal media and such groups. Science should not be politicized, ever, or at least we should avoid it as much as possible. So-called climate change has been immensely politicized to the extent that now science is being misrepresented, and the scientific method itself has been thrown out the window. To the reader, please take a look at this book and consider each point carefully and openly.

Presents the actual data on all aspects of the global warming/climate change issue, showing that climate change is mostly natural and does not threaten mankind. The data show no correlation between atmospheric temperature and CO2, therefore reducing CO2 by reducing fossil fuels will not affect temperature and will forego many benefits, mostly harming lower income people and underdeveloped populations. The data does not support the claim that severe weather events are increasing, not in frequency or intensity. The geologic temperature record shows that the earth's atmosphere has been warmer than today numerous times in the past when CO2 levels were lower.

Easy Read, Approach to Science is of course exactly right.

I bought this book recently, easy read took me 5-6 hours. I'm a scientist and understood the limitations of pushing back on the massive supporting industry and their approaches to pushing this apocalyptic version of our future. The only question I was left with is what on earth can we do, I have written many times to my MP, got 'most scientists agree' but they will forward my concerns. The BBC no longer have the 'have your say' option on their website. Forums are full of those who just know the answer and 'I should be prosecuted for my views'. All in all the book put it really clearly and it's a shame nobody apart from those who know the problem will buy let alone listen to the simple truth in the arguments. I fear we are all really doomed. Congratulations to the author.

Inconvenient Facts which are true!

Gregory Wrightstone starts his book with this appropriate quote from H. L. Mencken:
" The whole aim of practical politics is is to keep the populace alarmed -- and hence clamorous to be led to safety -- by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary".
Pursuing this theme, later in the book, when discussing "97%Consensus - What Consensus?" he quotes appropriately from Joseph Goebbels as follows:
" If you tell a big enough lie and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it".
Like me, Wrightstone is a geologist who takes a necessarily very long-term view of Earth history when considering the question of Climate Change, as opposed to the very short term view taken by climate activists, politicians and the media in their scaremongering. After outlining the relevant scientific facts about carbon dioxide and temperature he goes on to systematically destroy each and every one of the current global warming myths, by scientific reasoning and drawing our attention to what happened in past geological time. This has been done many times before, notably by Ian Plimer and Robert Carter, but Wrightstone brings the argument up to date, referring to more than 150 scientific and official papers, many of which have been published in the last two or three years, and which back up his line of reasoning. The book concludes with a summary list of 60 " inconvenient facts ", and a section headed "The Benefits of Principled Inaction" in which he states that the first and most important conclusion is that the correct policy to address the non-problem of man-made global warming is to have the courage to do nothing . This is a very welcome antidote to the exaggerations and distortions of the "warmists".

When Al Gore wrote ‘An inconvenient truth’, he made an impassioned argument for mankind to get to grips with global warming. That is, the disastrous consequences to our planet of man-made greenhouse gas pollution and the subsequent temperature increase, leading to the melting of the earth’s polar ice caps. He backed his view with post-modernist definitions of ‘truth’ (i.e. what a lot of people believe), ‘science’ (i.e. what many government-financed models show) and ‘reality’ (i.e. it must be so because it sounds plausible).
What has been lacking is independent evidence to support Gore’s assertions. In this book, Gregory Wrightstone, a geologist with actual expertise in climate change, provides such evidence…and the evidence does not support Gore’s position. Why is it that actual scientific data disagrees with the climate models? Is there too much or too little carbon dioxide in the air just before we are due to enter the next ice age? Is the earth’s temperature actually increasing at an alarming rate as per Michael Moore’s ‘hockey stick’ model?
Is it possible that reason has given way to emotion? That what we are witnessing is a hoax being propagated on the general public, and that the goodness in people is being exploited for political ends? It is interesting that a co-chair of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change recently revealed the real reason for pursuing a policy on climate change: "We redistribute de facto the world's wealth by climate policy," said Edenhofer. “One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with the environmental policy anymore.” This all begins to sound like Marxism in disguise.
‘Inconvenient Facts’ provides vital information and light at a time when we have too much heat and activism pushing the general public into accepting a lie. This book provides easy to read charts and graphs. It reveals ice core data showing actual long-term trends, rather than cherry-picking short-term data. It is such a big lie that the population genuinely ends up believing it rather than remaining sceptical to such a politically motivated and financially corrupt scheme.

Facts fighting fiction

I have always been suspicious of the ‘mob mentality’ or ‘groupthink’ claims on the issue of climate change. This book dispels many, if not all, the myths peddled by the Climate Change zealots and doom mongers. Used to be just one barmy guy on the corner holding The End is Nigh placard, now we have a whole army of them, supported by the loony false news MSM.

Real science says we need more CO2 not less

I liked the clear manner in which the information was presented and its foundation on science, not "consensus". It shows the Al Gore inconvenient truth to be inconvenient lies.
As CO2 makes up a tiny% of our atmosphere, its influence on climate change is much exaggerated. CO2 is necessary for plant growth so the more the merrier. If we grow more plants, we can feed more people.
