First, the best advice I can give you on whether you need any of the incra rulers. Go to YouTube and search for "incra rules." You want to watch the video "INCRA Rules - Complete Version." It is about 8 and 1/2 minutes long and covers each of there rulers. From this video you will get a sense as to which ruler(s) might be useful to you.

Finally, here is what I can offer that you will not find in the You Tube video I recommended.

The holes for marking are so small you will need a .5mm mechanical pencil. Or, you will need to use your utility knife to whittle down a fine point on a regular pencil. I have been using the later method, but finally bought a mechanical pencil. Someone said in a review that they come with a mechanical pencil. Mine did not.

One final note. The incra rulers are made of thin, pliable metal. As such I would not be storing them in my tool bucket! This is not at all a criticism, it is just stating a fact.

I also own the "6-Inch and 3-Inch Precision Marking T-Rules" and the "Incra BNDRUL12 12-Inch Incra Precision Bend Rule" and find them just as useful as this product. They too are covered in the video I refer to above.

I am a huge fan of incra products.

This marking rule is exactly what I needed...maybe even more. I don't know if marking wood to 1/64th inch is REALLY necessary, but it's there if needed. I'm able to easily make accurate marks on the wood projects being worked on. The numbers are easy to read. I always use .5mm mechanical pencils for the shop, work, etc. I buy them by the multi packs at any place that carries office supplies.

I really like the flexibility of the rule. It easily conforms to the piece I'm working on. I keep rare earth magnets all over the shop so I can just put the stainless steel rule anywhere I'm working without it getting buried.

When it comes to accuracy you need to think INCRA. I also have their edge ruler. Yhink of this item bent in the middle to 90 degrees. It is great for marking both edges at the same time. Their tools are made from high quality stainless and have supurbe accuracy.

It's okay and I like it.

I got super excited seeing a product like this with precision markings and well thought out design. However, once I received the products I realized some of its drawbacks.

First is the pros
-Markings are very easy to read with number markings every 4/32 on the edge and 1/16 of an inch in the center
-Big pro for me is the marking holes every 1/32 of an inch and 1/16 of an inch, edge and center respectively
-Can use it as a compass to make circles

Cons
-Very thin, so thin in fact that I dropped the ruler from about 5 feet and the corner dented. This tool was made to be used in a shop, I drop it from 5 feet and it has already bent a corner? Really disappointing.
-Corners are sharp, like you can hurt yourself sharp
-Edges are fairly sharp too, but that more so has to do with how thin it is.

Notes
-You need to use 0.5mm or smaller pencil/pen in order to fit the holes, not a problem for me as I prefer to use 0.5mm.

Overall I like it, but I question its longevity. It has plenty of features that I think are amazing, but the build quality just isn't there for me. I would give it 5 stars for being such an innovative ruler, but have to bump it down to a solid 4 due to build quality. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

The Incra Rule18 allowed me to produce a trammel jig for my router with extremely accurate placed pivot points. Before using the Incra rule, I unsuccessfully made three of these trammels using an excellent standard ruler and a magnifying glass to scribe target drill press points; I never hit the required mark. I am making a circular inlay pattern for a table top, which has 408-individual pieces. Errors greater than a few thousandths of an inch in the inlay pieces will throw off the entire pattern as they add up, e.g. an error of 0.004 will be misaligned by 1/8-inch in about 30-pieces, or about 3/8ths when the pattern completes the circle--completely unacceptable! With the ability to precisely mark 1/32" increments, the Incra rule allowed me to minimize this error and produce a trammel with pivot point spacing within extreme tolerances.

I'm not the pup I once was. I like to be accurate with making things but my eyes are starting to not be as right on the money as they once were. It also maybe you have several marks to make and you need them not to blend in with others. This is a very thin flexible rule. Not to be just tossed about as it would not hold up to alot of abuse. It's easy to read and use. Laying something out to 1/32 of an inch is a snap.

I purchased this for my dad as a thank you gift for helping me around my house. He has a million tools, but this is unique. He loves how precise he can mark measurements and not leave a big line to erase later. It's flexible but sturdy metal. He now wants to get all incra ruler to replace is "ordinary" ones. This is a must have for any toolbox.

Not as described, it states 1/64 but there are no 1/64 marks, this is not a product issue I think the ruler will be fine it's an Amazon issue. I bought this to lay out a fret board I made it work. I took off one star for the description error that Amazon doesn't appear to care about changing.
