“The Academy series is shaping out to be quite a gem of all her books. INDECENT EXPOSURE is engaging, fun, appropriately angsty when the occasion calls for it and more emotionally resonant than the first book in the series.” (The Romance Reviews)
“blazing-hot (and at times graphic) sex scenes, deeply affecting emotional conflicts, and two flawed characters who are devoted to each other yet out of their depth. Help from a loving, steadfast secondary cast strengthens the story and the series. A steamy yet emotionally resonant—and relevant—romance winner.” (Kirkus Reviews)

Is there a problem, Officer?
Jack Garrett isn’t a police officer yet, but there’s already an emergency. His new firearms instructor—the one who just dropped every jaw in the academy gym—is the same sexy Irish stranger Jack locked lips with last night. The Olympic gold medalist and expert markswoman is now officially off-limits, but Jack’s never cared much for rules . . .
Katie McCoy’s been cooped up in a shooting range for too long. A wild love affair is just what she needs to let loose, though she never imagined it would be with her smokin’ hot trainee. She cannot get involved with Jack—but a quick fling? Perfect. Falling hard for a charismatic recruit with an equal amount of sex appeal and secrets?
Jack’s charmed the pants off plenty of women (literally), yet few have ever looked beyond his perfect surface. Until Katie. He’ll do anything to keep her in his life . . . except tell her about his past. But a tiny lie of omission never hurt anyone, right?

Jack and Katie's story was so special to me. At the risk of spoiling part of the story (although you know about it kind of early in the book), Jack, impossibly charming and handsome though he may be, is coping with the repercussions of a sexual assault that he survived years before. Jack's experience was so poignant to me, his ways of coping so reflective of reality. For many years, I have worked with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Seeing his struggle, his dependence on alcohol as a way to cope, his feeling that his sexual capability was one of the few things that were worthwhile about him, really resonated with me. I give Tessa a lot of credit for going there, because it's not a fun topic. And a lot of times, it's not something that people think of as happening to men at all. It's incredible to see it portrayed in a book in a way that I can relate to.
I love that Katie is so accomplished as well. My girl is a bad. ass. Being an Olympic champion is impressive. But being an Olympic champion marksman? I love this girl sooo hard! And she is utterly adorable. I'm never one to turn my nose up at the virgin/lothario trope and it does NOT disappoint here. And I love that when she sees capability in Jack, she believes in him, she fights for him, even when he doesn't see it in himself. Katie is a darling.
This book is so great, as all of Tessa's books are. She has again created a group of people that are charming, flawed, special, authentic reflections of, maybe not real life, but a world I'd love to live in. So, so special of a book.
I adored Katie. In so many ways she was this cultured, Olympic gold medalist but yet there was a vulnerability and naivety to her that I could relate to. She come to the United States for work but yet she has this itinerary of places she wants to see and things she wants to do. I am very envious of this. I loved how she was with Jack. She saw the good in him even before he did. I loved watching her fight for him!!
After finishing this book, my heart truly belongs to Jack. This man who has had such a horrible upbringing and was struggling at the beginning of this book captured my heart. Jack is described as having charisma and looks that have gotten him everything until he meets Katie. I loved that from the first moment he met her, he knew he wanted to be around her. It was so heart wrenching to hear about the burdens he had to bear and to watch him stumble. Without giving the ending away, I loved the growth and strength he showed in all aspects of his life.
This is what good storytelling is all about. You feel so deeply for a character or a situation that when they hurt, you hurt. I can't recommend this book enough.
You will fall in love, You will cry, You will laugh.
I recommend reading book one of the Academy Series,Disorderly Conduct, which is equally great but you can read it as a stand alone.
When they meet again at the police academy I love the shock of it for both of them. The fact that Katie is in a similar field of work as Jack is great and really motivates Jack to want to be better. For her but also for himself. I love how Jack opened up to Katie about his past and why he acts like he does. It isn’t all at once but he starts to realize he is worth something when before he didn’t feel that way.
I love the friendship with Danika and that she realized how important Katie became to Jack. The sex between Jack and Katie was freaking hot! Their first encounter was WOW.
I definitely recommend this book. Such a great book. Jack was a great guy and it was nice to see that he was kinda broken and yet felt at the end that he did deserve to be happy. Looking forward to Greer and Danika next!
