About the Author

Emma spent her childhood creating imaginary worlds to compensate for a disappointingly average reality, so it was probably inevitable that she ended up writing urban fantasy and young adult novels. When she's not immersed in her own fictional universes, Emma can be found with her head in a book or wandering around the world in search of adventure.

Visit emmaladams.com/ to find out more about Emma's books, or subscribe to her newsletter (smarturl.it/ELAnewsletter) for new release alerts and a free short story.

My Impressions: Great hook at the start! Not only a chaotic, but an interesting event, with some next-level imagery that burned a hole into my mind…Felt almost like I was watching a movie instead of reading a book (this is a good thing!). Fast but steady pacing…thank goodness. I tend to lose interest in books that have long sagging exposition in-between the major plot points. Not a problem here. The author weaves the explanations in seamlessly with the action so there’s kinda always something interesting going on. Very engrossing. I kept telling myself, ok, let me just get to the end of this one chapter so I can reach a stopping point…never really happened. There was always some bizarre new situation developing that I had to see through to the end. The result, I inhaled the book in one day. Got zero work done.

World-Building: Unique in the sense that…its earth, but not the earth we know and love. This version of earth is different…ravaged and war-torn…otherworldly. The explanations of the changed order of society and some of the odd things that go on in the book are both cool and creepy at the same time…Post-invasion earth has a strangeness to it that makes the bizarre creatures and happenings in the book that much more believable. Seriously some of that stuff made my skin crawl…(the weapons explanation…ewww!) but still, I craved more. I mean, I wouldn’t want to live there, but I really enjoyed reading about it.

The Love Story: Non-existent. This is truly rare. I generally need a central romance or a romantic subplot to sweeten the deal when I read. However, this book is still a keeper even without either. Eh, although, there was kind of a odd vibe going on between Leah and Cas towards the end…or am I chasing windmills here?

Indestructible is a dystopian fantasy that grabs a hold of you, thrusts you into a manic world of action and danger, and doesn't let go. And the moments where you've been given a chance to let your heart slow down don't ever last too long before you're thrown back into the action again.

Leah is a girl who loses everything when an energy blast rips through her town. Now taken in by a band of folks called Pyros, she comes to find out the truth about who she is and what she can do, as well as whom to trust and whom not to.

There is a lot of mythological weaving in this story, which I quite enjoyed. Adams does a nice job of simultaneously answering questions that pop up during Leah's journey and adding new questions as a result of those answers. I found myself wanting to discover exactly what happened in the past to bring this cast of characters to this point.

Many of those questions go unanswered, however, as the book ends in a cliffhanger, guaranteed to have readers anxious to grab the next book in the series.

First off, I received an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Indestructible follows a girl, Leah, two years after the world as we know it is destroyed by the invasion of the fiends, a race of beings from another world.
Leah has lost her family, her friends and now learns that she is something more than human. Joining a group of like survivors, she finds intrigue, danger and traitors before realizing her life has changed forever, again.

I really enjoyed this book, Leah is a great character that felt real, she has her faults like a real person, but I came to care about what happened to her, which isn't something I admit to very often.
I heartily recommend this book to anyone looking for a good book to read and who has enough time to sit down and read the whole thing at once.

Received a complimentary copy to read and review. I couldn't put it down. It's amazing right from the first page. I love the characters and world that she has created with this one. It has some great twists and turns. Readers will be hooked from the very beginning. I look forward to reading the next one in the series.

The Writing:
I liked the writing. This was easy to read and fast paced.
We read all the book from Leah's POV, which is great, but I definitely want to be in Cas's mind and read his POV.

The Story:
While reading this I had The 5th wave vibes. Which is not bad, and if you liked that book I would say you might like this.
If you expect some romance, you will not find that. Which is kind of weird because we are used to that, but I didn't miss it. There is so much going on, you try to know more about the situation and you just don't think in the romance. But, I must say I think there is the beginning of a romance. There are some hints here and there but it's not the main thing.
This world has aliens, crazy human and Pyros. I liked the concept of Pyros, these super-more-than-human that have super-strength, super-speed and can control fire.
There are lots of fight scenes and action.
As you might have guessed from my rating, I liked the story and all its components.

The Characters:
Leah: She made me think of Tris from Divergent sometimes. I think these two characters have things in common, just a few, but they are different. I liked this character. She is down to earth and cares for other people. She tries to do her best. At the beginning, she knows nothing about fighting and she considers going into the fight but then she realises it wouldn't be a good thing and just does what other partner said. And that was great because she wasn't stupid. I just said that and I have no regrets. Then in the book she learns to fight and other things and she becomes kind of reckless (which was kind of exasperating) but at least she knew how to fight.
Cas: He was mysterious. We don't really know him and has this bad attitude all time.
