this has always been my favorite of the Indy movies (just edging Raiders). I'm docking a star (would be half star if option) for just overall lack of content. As others have stated, this is just a bare bones release, movie & digital code with nothing else. No bluray disc which is ok, but absolutely no extra features either. The steelbook looks great, but the mini poster doesn't do much to make up for the lack of anything else. I'm glad I got a good deal on it. I'm going to try another dedicated player as the digital copy was not as big an upgrade I would expect and even hit some artifacting. From other review sources it doesn't seem like this is common, and the visuals normally get praised so I'm chalking that one up to being on my end, but even without I did expect a bit better.
Finally, not the movie itself & not affecting my score, but for whatever reason my copy was shipped awkwardly. It was sold and shipped from amazon directly. Every other movie I get that will come sealed in plastic, keeping the contents shut and jcard in good shape. In this case though, it had no seal of any kind around the steelbook, just a plastic "ready to ship" bag from amazon with a barcode on it. Luckily it still arrived ok, but I easily could open the steelbook while still in the shipping bag, and if there had been a loose disc, it easily could have been damaged. The digital code was good and the disc in good shape, but just the way it was shipped, I wouldn't have been sure that it wasn't a used copy. For this reason, the disc is getting watched in the near future in case I run into any issues. Still, easily avoidable and I expect better handling and ease of mind that when I buy new, it's new.

How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

This is the first time this has happened to me, but I don’t know where this came from but it looks like it was dragged down a street. The disc was fine but I had to buy another copy at Best Buy where it’s only $14.99 in store at the time of this writing

I've seen this film many times and I'm always struck by Sean Connery's incredible confidence as an actor. To have gone from leading man and love interest (Bond) to supporting and essentially comic relief (Dr. Jones) is something not many stars can do. Their ego gets in the way. Connery does an off-the-charts jobs with fantastic comic timing. Spielberg was right to center this film on the father/son relationship. The endless fight scenes and narrow escapes tend to get tedious after awhile. The relationship makes the movie. Plus you get the whole backstory of Indiana Jones. Great fun.

I guess you can go home again. Number 3 in the series has all the wit, panache, suspense, believable character interactions, and improbable stunts that made the first film a hit. The filmmakers redeemed themselves after the dissonance of the 2nd movie in the series. The interplay between Sean Connery and Harrison Ford is a joy to watch.

Indy kicks butt. Note: Some Nazis were harmed or killed in the making of this movie.

This is not only the best Indiana Jones movie, but also the best Spielberg movie.
Anyone whom says otherwise is objectively wrong, and we can settle the disagreement in a cage fight like real men.

Most of the time when a third movie in a series comes out, it is typically not really that great. Think Godfather III or Alien 3. But with Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, we get a return to what made the original Raiders of the Lost Ark so great, but with some added growth that ranks this as one of the best such movies ever made.
Returning for this adventure alongside Indiana Jones are his cohorts Sallah (John Rhys-Davies) and Marcus Brody (Denholm Elliot) - sadly no Marion Ravenwood though. We are also introduced to Indy as a teen in the Boy Scouts and learn just where he acquires the hat and the scar on his chin.
Once Harrison Ford returns to the screen, we pick up action in 1938, where Indy is retrieving the cross of Coronado in a great sequence that serves as a bookend to the opening young Indy sequence. After that, Indy later receives a diary from his father (Sean Connery as professor Henry Jones), who has turned up missing while on an expedition in pre-WWII Europe. Indy and Brody meet with Walter Donovan, a US businessman with an apparent interest in the European expedition that Henry Jones was on. Indy and Brody promptly head for Europe, Venice Italy to be precise, to find the missing Jones.
What follows is a well-written movie with some memorable dialogue and characters that resonate. The introduction of Henry Jones was perfectly done. He gives Indiana Jones a human quality that he maybe didn't have quite enough of in the earlier movies - now, instead of a guy who wears a great hat and an even greater coat and carries a bullwhip, and can foil the plans of Nazis and other bad guys as he makes things up as he goes along, he is now a man with a past, a man with a strained relationship with his father, and a man who will grow emotionally as he patches up his relationship with his dad.
Some of the dialogue that stands out to me even so many years later ....
"Don't call me Junior!"
"Nazis... I hate these guys!"
"He chose ... poorly."
This entry in the series stands up well alongside Raiders of the Lost Ark and is quite a satisfying adventure movie.

I liked Sean Connery as Indy's father and all the scenes with Sean and Harrison were the best. the script was so much better than the Temple of Doom. I still like the first Indiana Jones movie the best, but this one is a close second.

Want To Give this Ten Stars!

The only thing with this site is it does not allow you to go past 5 stars. But then again, there are not that many things that you would put into that category are there? This however, is one of them.
Indiana Jones 1 and 3 are great films. For me, number 2 can stay shelved, for I am uncomfortable with it for some reason. I cannot watch it. But this third one is simply fantastic. I can and would watch it on a 24 hour spool if there was a chance.
We all know something of the Grail legend. Most of us think it is a goblet that held the blood of Christ and nearly everybody sees it for what it is, both theologically and literally, a metaphorical object leading towards an understanding of the Divine.
So, films galore have been made about it. This is no different. Starting with the late River Phoenix as the young Indy, this tells the story of how one man tries to follow in his father's footsteps. But when we think that his father is played by Sean Connery, then the fun starts.
I love this film, its message of hope, how it tells, or retells the Grail story into a different context and just how Ford and Connery get along together. If I was Harrison Ford, I would feel it such a buzz to act with Sean Connery and I am sure Mr Connery will have felt something similar.
Buy, watch, enjoy and revel in the chemistry between the two actors of our time. This is worth EVERY penny.

This third outing of the lndiana jones series, sees the heroic lndiana jones going after the legendary holy grail. He meets up with his father about half way through the film, who helps him in the search for the holy grail. The main villians of this film are the nazi army, who are also in pursuit of the holy grail. All the traditional things from an lndiana jones film are present as you would expect, several action scenes present throughout the film and the supporting cast are very good as well.

I want to be Indiana Jones. I even have the hat and work in a desert, although I can't quite find the authentic pants, jacket and shirt anywhere unfortunately. Anyway, what more can be said about this film that hasn't been said already. River Phoenix excels in the beginning scenes, Sean Connery adds class and the whole film is just the perfect action, adventure, thrill ride with a stunning ending.
