No disrespect to the artists, but ouch! I almost gave up on the playlist after the first two songs, which features two of the most shrill and nasal vocalists singing Christmas songs that I've ever had the misfortune of hearing. There were a few songs I enjoyed, but it wasn't really worth listening through the rest of playlist filled with mediocre and just plain awful songs, in my opinion. I enjoy alternative music and covers that add something new to the original, but I think a lot of these songs are off the mark. Some of the vocalists need a lot of work, they appear to care more about getting the spotlight on themselves than they care about making good music. Similarly, I got the impression that maybe some of these bands got caught up in trying to sound "different" and lost focus that they're making holiday music. Much of it sounds melancholy and tired. It didn't make me want to "celebrate the season" as it says in the description.
I felt the need to listen to something traditional after that. I recommend 50 Great Holiday Songs, Christmas Classics, and Top Holiday Songs in Prime. Those cover the majority of traditional favorites. If you're looking for Christmas songs that aren't overplayed, I don't recommend Indie for the Holidays. Instead, give these playlists a try: Underrated Christmas Songs, Christmas on the Beach, Christmas Road Rage, and if you're feeling like a Grinch, go listen to "Bah Humbug!"
