I reviewed this thought-provoking collection for the Liberty and Law website: [...] One major theme is "Who is John Locke?" Thomas West's answer is a major provocation in Locke scholarship. Fights over Woodrow Wilson's legacy, the meaning of the American founding, and the nature of Progressivism characterize the conflicting scholarly viewpoints put forward by a diverse array of scholars.

By itself, Tom West's opening analysis of Locke's writings is worth the price of the book and,so far, all of the other essays which I have read are commendable works of serious, timely and much needed scholarship.
