Keep the soil damp but not soaking wet until the sprouts become mature. The sprouts will have to be transplanted into larger pots eventually but can stay in their adorable jute growing pots for up to three months. Perfect for your growing quarantine garden!
This is my third growing kit from Garden Republic! I had such success with my Herbal Tea and Garden Herbs kit, I had to try this one. Here are my favorite things about these kits:- the seeds are organic and non-gmo, which is really important to me- the grow bags can be used again and again, which was nice when I was starting out seeds not from these kits- the soil discs make way more soil than you need for four starter plants, which is nice when you later repot your plants!- and my favorite part is the Garden Republic online community and seed help! I joined the Facebook group and have had several questions answered and seen a really helpful staff at Garden republic. It’s nice having someone look at a picture of your seedlings and ask “is this how it’s supposed to look?” and actually get an answer!I’d definitely recommend these kits for your growing garden!

Just got this in the mail yesterday and am super excited to start! The packaging itself is so cute, I love the wooden box that everything comes in as well asked the wooden labels for the plants and the burlap sacks for the seed starters. This kit comes with everything you need to start gardening and the seeds are unique. I love that they even include little clippers for your plants. The instructions are very detailed and informative and there is even an online community you can reach out to for help, perfect if your just starting out. Excited for my kids to help grow and taste these awesome unique veggies (they are especially excited about the carrots).

I got this as a gift for Christmas and was a little skeptical because a lot of the "kits" you see aren't much of anything and aren't designed for success. They are designed to make money and nobody returns them because inexperienced gardeners assume it was user error. But this one seems to be a lot better!

Pros:
- The grow pots, which are actually cute little burlap pots with a lining that I really like, are much bigger than most kits and have a drainage hole. You definitely couldn't keep a cucumber plant in one for more than a few weeks, but it's a great size to start them before transferring. It's also not big enough to grow radishes and they don't transfer well, but you probably could grow lettuce/spinach in it for the full life cycle. Overall, bigger and nicer than any other kit I have seen.
- The seeds are really cool varieties and being heirloom, you could save seeds at the end which is important to me. Just make sure they don't cross-pollinate.
- The little snips, I love them! I've never had a pair but always thought they would be so useful. Most scissors crush when you use them on plants, then cut. These are sharp and are designed to just cut without crushing. And I love the simple design.
- The seed markers are really sturdy and very cute. I can definitely see them holding up outside for a season, but I will probably use them inside because they look so nice.
- The box! idk why, but I'm a sucker for a nice wooden box. This one looks very nice and is very sturdy!

Cons:
- It doesn't come with soil, it comes with coconut coir disks which are inert and don't have any nutrition. On its own, this isn't a con. Coconut coir has great water retention without getting soggy and is great for starting seeds because they don't need nutrients (they get it from the seed itself) and staying adequately moist is the hardest part. Coco coir is commonly used to start seeds in general, but, you can't grow full-sized plants in it. They need soil. If you're transplanting to a garden, this works great, but if you want to grow lettuce inside, you'll need soil. I also know it's easier to ship coir because it's so compact and light, so it makes a lot of sense to use that in the kit. Just know this info before you start!

Overall, it's a great little kit and a lot better than most that I have seen!

I did everything word for word exactly as it said int he directions. The moisture content of the soil bricks it came with was perfect and I have 2 seedlings beautifully coming up. About a week in from the planting of the seeds I saw on the 2 wooden signs mold beginning to grow! I immediately removed them and checked the surrounding dirt carefully. I am hoping it does not affect my seedlings as they are looking beautiful!
Please Garden Republic, rethink on those wood signs or find something to coat them in where you can still write on it but the moisture won't affect it! I am crossing my fingers these 3 seedlings will survive!

This package was easy to use - especially if you are new to gardening. I would recommend sending more than 10 seeds of each. The carrot seeds are so tiny and some didn't even look like seeds. The broccoli sprouted after 5 days and the others should be sprouting soon.
