For some reason, at least for this gardener, knowing which plants to pick and how to pot them and have it all tie into the decor of the room is a bit daunting. So much so that flashbacks to our early years of gardening and learning the difference between a dibber and a trug are brought to the surface. Why is it that gardening with style within the four walls of our own home can be such a challenge? Fear not my gardening friends, Kylee Baumle and Jenny Peterson are gifting to us their plant know-how, creative insights and practical advice within the pages of their new book; indoor Plant Decor; The Design Stylebook for Houseplants. (St. Lynn's Press)
Kylee and Jenny walk us through eight decor styles from classic elegance to haberdashery. For each style we are taught its signature points, insightful ideas for plant containers and of course, which plants shine and embody the feel of the style.
But this is more than a how-to book full of do this and that instructions; this book reads like an afternoon with garden friends. Jenny and Kylee chat with us, as if they are sitting with us, in our family room telling us, you go this! as we look about the room and wonder, what is my garden decor style?
indoor Plant Decor is a beautiful book, full of lovely photos, excellent plant lists for each decor, a generous final plant list with plants categorized by how easy they are to grow and resource guides for plants and containers. Whether you have been growing plants for years or setting out to make your first purchase, this book will inspire and delight you!
This is the first book for this garden duo and I have a feeling it will not be there last!
This is truly a beautiful book from front to back. It's packed full of great ideas illustrated with wonderful photos on nearly every page.
Really enjoyed the use of old musical instruments with plants on page 58.
There's also an excellent reference guide in the back of the book to help people make good purchase choices.
I think this would make a perfect book to give as a gift for any special occasion.
