If you have gone through Baby Rudin and not looked at this then you are making a very BIG mistake since it is a great book. Inequalities (along with hoping we guess right and can take a limit) are fundamental. If none of this makes sense to you, move on. Otherwise, buy the book. It is elderly but very well written (as is all of Hardy's work).

A well written, classic text written by three larger than life math legends (Hardy, Littlewood, Polya). This is the definitive and monumental text on inequality -- the little angular symbols you see in all fields of mathematics -- from analysis to number theory to topology to combinatorics (i would say all fields of science but I am not a math apologist, mind you, so I would stay with those things I know something about).

More than a classic, this book is an encyclopedia of inequalities...

But, be aware that every line in most of the proofs takes non-negligible time and effort on the part of the reader, in order to outguess why in heavens, Hardy wrote it : indeed, Hardy states, I mean only states things and it's up to the reader to do the details...

And there are 407 theorems...!

So, why 5 stars ? Well, simply because Hardy's proofs are a work of art, giving a unique example of the sense of beauty in mathematics, to a reader who accepts the investment in terms of personal effort and concentration, along with a load of pencils and paper...

Obviously, an easier way is to pass the proofs and concentrate on theorem headings, i.e. use the book as a reference work.
