5 out of 5 stars
The story Inevitably Yours (Imagine Ink Book 4) by Verlene Landon is a contemporary romance book. This is a wonderful love story that you will not want to miss. It is about second chances and letting go of the past so that you can move on with your future. This is the story of Augusta and John. They both have feelings for each other. They just haven’t told each other they’re true feelings. They keep dancing around the true issues they have and only seem to make their situation worse. What will make these two finally realize what they want and need is to be together? Can John push past the pain of the past so that they have a future together?
This is the first book I have read by the author and I love how she writes and the characters that she has created. This book has an abundance of characters and some are related to each other however all of them think of each other as family. No one is ever left behind and when one is in trouble or needs help they are all there to pitch in. This book makes you believe in the feeling of home. I love the character of Augusta. She is a wonderful person who has decided that she is going to help friends of hers by carrying their child when they can’t. She knew what she was getting into when she made the decision however it seems that this has the possible consequence of pushing away the one person she wants to love. I love the fact that even through Augusta’s childhood was not the best she is standing up on her own two feet and even helps others with their lives. Will she be able to make John see how much she cares for him or will this romance even have a chance to start?
At first, John is such as mysterious character. He doesn’t say a lot and while there are some facts given about his past you wonder about his reasoning behind not taking the next step with Augusta. I could tell he is not comfortable with her carrying a child for someone else however he wasn’t telling Augusta why. As the story progressed you get a deeper look into John and his past and I began to understand the reasons for his actions. It is still frustrating to read about this amazing couple who obviously loves each other but are not communicating and keep holding back. Will John open up to Augusta and finally let her see his true feelings? Can he let go of the past to be able to make her his future? Read this book to find out if Augusta and John get their happy ending. This book does have adult situations which include steamy love scenes. It would be for those 18 years of age or older.
John and Augusta have been circling each other for a long time and Augusta is pretty much ready to say whatever and move on… I love how this starts.
I appreciated that Augusta recognized that John may never be able to allow himself to have a relationship with her and that no matter how much she might love him, there comes a time when you just have to say enough is enough. That doesn’t mean she’s mad or bitter, she just doesn’t want to put all her effort and time into something that is most likely never going to happen. I love that. It’s a lot harder to give up that hope than I think most realize.
Now John…. That man is holding on to his stubbornness like his life depends on it. There are a lot of reasons that he behaves the way he does, and honestly, they’re valid reasons. But, he has got to see that not every woman is the mess his ex was. I mean he’s surrounded by awesome women. The control he values so highly is only going to keep him so warm. I worried that he was going to leave this untenable situation go on too long and he was going to end up missing out on the best thing to ever happen to him.
And the pregnancy… I’ve always wondered how that works. Not pregnancy… the surrogacy. It takes a strong woman to be able to do something like that for someone else. But Landon handles it beautifully and I liked how she kept Augusta involved without making it an angsty mess.
I thought this was a great installment to the series. Now, I’m really hoping we get Jan’s story because if there was ever a woman who needs some intervention, it’s her.
John & Gus’s relationship is rocky from the start. Gus, a most unselfish woman, finds herself providing for her friends in a way many cannot fathom. She happily serves as a surrogate for Andrew and Marco, helping the couple to achieve their deepest wishes for a family. John’s overwhelming attraction for Gus is, inconvenient, at the beginning. He fights a losing battle over his attraction for Gus during the pregnancy, for his own reasons. After having been so horribly betrayed in the past, will John be capable of giving Gus the love and devotion she seeks from the man she’s been in love with from the start?
I’m eagerly awaiting the next chapter in this series. The Imagine Ink Series is outstanding and deals with issues that are not widely discussed in real life. But the way Verlene Landon portray’s the characters in this series is heartfelt, genuine and very engaging. I highly recommend this entire series.
Gus has been one of my favorite secondary characters throughout the previous books & I love that she finally got a story of her own! She is the kind of friend who is always there to take care of her friends & help them in every way that she possibly can. So once again we witness her kindness as she unselfishly carries a baby for friends, even while sacrificing her chances with the man she loves.
John, while a bit mysterious, has faced several tragedies in his life which have created demons that he must face before he can move on. Can the "angel" that is Gus help him move forward? Or will she finally accept that he will never be hers & find someone new?? ...I guess you'll just have to read it yourself to find out!
I love this "Imagine Ink" world that Verlene has created & can't wait for the next book to see what Verlene has in store for Gus's sister January!
