This time around, a new main character emerges in the form of another adolescent girl named Kenna who, as it turns out, is a volcano goddess. For her entire life she has been raised by human parents who kept her obvlivious of her true nature. But now, after disobeying her "fake parents," she she awakens to her true powers and has to decide who she can trust if she's going to get through her ordeal without causing massive damage to the world. Janelle, who is now leader of the Tempests, discovers her and because of her own similar experiences is able to relate to her.
If anything, Inferno is even more of a page-turner than Tempests. I finished it pretty darn quick because it's so engaging. And for the low price tag, you really can't go wrong here (unless you just really hate YA). I hope Hook continues writing, because she has a lot to offer the reading world.
If there is any complaint to be leveled against this book, it's the fact that I still don't understand why Tempests sometimes transform when they go in the ocean, but other times they don't. Maybe I'm just dumb, though.
Since meeting Holly Hook it has been my pleasure to read all three of her novels, including reading her second one before its publication. I'm pleased to say that she gets better every time. Tempest was a page-turner, and Inferno is even better. The narrative is smooth, the pace fast, the dialogue sharp and focused, and there is an interesting surprise midway through.
I would have liked to see this novel be a little longer. Because of the tight plotting, it progressed very rapidly and I was dismayed to see how quickly my enjoyable read was going to end. I could have read a book twice as long with pleasure.
I read and write YA, and I have no reservations in recommending all of Holly Hook's books. She is a talent to watch, and we will see her stories on the screen some day! Five stars.

Janelle is back in book 2 and she kicks butt! She meets a girl named Kenna in Hawaii who has special powers with volcanoes. Things turn crazy when Kenna disappears and Janelle has to search for her. The fate of the world rests in Janelle's hands. Can she save Jenna and civilization in time?
I would recommend this book to everyone. This is an awesome read! And a fantastic sequel! Kudos to this author!
