I will be buying more Infinity Car audio in the future.
After looking up the fitment, I found these speakers at a GREAT price on Amazon at ½ the price listed on another site.
After careful installation or just the rear door speakers there is a world of difference. The original Bose labeled speakers had paper cones with rather small magnets. The Infinity are fiberglass cones, separate tweeters and magnets that are at least 3X bigger.
The original Bose Head Unit drives these just fine.
Looking forward to installing the fronts!
I have installed the fronts and replaced the tweeters as well with fantastic results. It sounds like you have additional folks in the car with you and both the soundstage and the presence is amazing.
For $120 to do front/teat/tweeters, I don't think you could do much better.
Really nice that the original BOSE Head Unit drives it all so well.
Now I just have to burn more CDs!
Just word of note, these come with bass blockers [basic capacitor with metal leads] so no need to purchase them separately. This info is not listed anywhere but save yourself a few bucks and the quandary of whether or not to pay $7 for shipping to return $9 worth of bass blockers back to Amazon.
Unfortunately, I forgot to note what the frequency cutoff was before I put them in but believe they're 800 MHz (@4 ohm).Nonetheless, they sound worlds better than OEM and a definite improvement in clarity and mid-range.
These speakers are so much more powerful that the plastic door assemblies of the good old Eurovan were just not able to cope with all the vibrations. The whole thing rattled and buzzed with sympathetic vibrations something awful, but I knew it was the doors and not the speakers. I went through the whole door and window slider assembly and jammed and glued in pieces of rubber and felt to keep plastic parts from buzzing against each other.
Finally with all the buzzing eliminated, I could actually hear the speakers and just the speakers. Now I have pretty nice audio equipment at home, quite a collection of high end headphones and earbuds. A car on the highway (especially a 20 year old van with a certain number of squeaks and rattles) is a pretty tough noisy listening environment. With the engine off, these things really sound quite lovely. Of course at highway speeds and higher volumes to drown out the wind and road noise, they lose some detail and a lot of bass to all the background noise, that is inevitable. Anyway, very happy and can turn these up as necessary and they never distort or anything like that. Pretty musical sounding considering the environment.
As for the holes where the old 3.5" speakers went, I left them empty. When these two door speakers sound this good, not sure what is to be gained by two more speakers. I would just probably have more places buzzing and rattling that I would have to fix. I can actually use those holes as cup holders if I want. They didn't put a lot of cup holders in VWs in those days.

Love them , gonna switch all speakers in ram over to infintys
The nice thing with the shallow version - I didn't require any spacers, all the windows had lots of room to go up and down on my Subaru.
The reason for 3 stars - is one of the speakers has a bass issue that does not handle more than 2/3rd volume without some bad noises... so I have to conclude that one speaker is defective. After install and discarding all pkg I didn't bother returning speaker - I'll put it in the back where it will be less noticeable.
Overall they are decent sound good, but I don't think any speaker in this price range will be much different in sound quality between them, so get a quality name brand and it will be an upgrade over OE speakers guaranteed...
