I have to admit, this is a book I have never before considered buying. I did so because the Kindle version was so cheap. I could not be happier. The information in this book is outstanding and extremely useful. There are just some malts and hops out there that you really don't know a whole lot about, Ashburn Malt for example. I have seen it on NB, even considered buying it. While this book doesn't dedicate a chapter to to it, it gives you more information than the retailer sites. If you want to add something new to a beer, but are just a bit unsure of exactly what that ingredient will bring to the table, this book will do the job.

This is a must have edition to any home-brewers reading. It was not written over-night and shows that by having an amazing accumulation of facts, ingredients, and knowledge that had to have taken quite a while to acquire. If you have any questions about what you might want to add to your beer to get the ideal taste, you need to get this book.

somewhat obsolete with the internet and new hop, grain, and yeast varieties becoming available every year. But i still use and enjoy having an all in one quick reference that seperates and describes base malts, kilned malts, US hops, European hops, Ale and Lager yeast strains and much more. This book is always by my side when im building recipes.

This is a fantastic read on all the most popular grain types, and how they apply to the brewing process.
As one who loves making my own recipes, this is an incredible helpful guide.

A must have in your library, if you are a home brewer, like myself.

After many years of wondering how beer was made and all of the different aspects that go into making the perfect brew, this book was a real find! I enjoyed learning about the different types of hops especially, and my husband enjoyed reading about the different types of beer he hasn't tried. :)

This book is handy, but only because it was available in electronic version. It lacks new information though. You can get most of the stuff inside directly from the web for free. It also lacks a few important information. The munich malt section, for example, is incomplete.

A valuable tool for the beginner home brewer. Covers most of the ingredients you'll need to know when composing a recipe, and is also a reference for some of those recipe ingredients that you may never have heard of.Good value for the money.

I am still learning, and I think I'll be forever adding knowledgement about the homebrewing process in my mind, so this way I consider this is a good book, mainly for rookies like me. Some ingredients like ginger, I had no idea the amount I should use in my last batch, and it helped me to find the answer.
