Ashley is a journalist and is given the chance of a story to interview hot star quarterback Tanner. The interview ends badly but Tanner allows Ashely to redeem herself and so starts a connection that goes from strength to strength.
Ashley is insecure in her own skin due to the actions of a hook up in her youth and her cheating ex. This leads to a lot of angst that Tanner pledges to overcome and make Ashley see her true value.
There is plenty of steam and romance and will appeal to new adult read lovers. It was a little immature for my personal tastes and the storyline didn’t flow smoothly enough, with quite a few fillers and repeating of scenes but then again this is the author’s debut so I guess an allowance should be taken for this. The characters were likable especially Tanner and although the storyline was predictable to a point, it did keep me entertained and routing for the pairing. I will warn readers that this does end on a cliff-hanger which I wasn’t expecting, so no HEA or HFN but I believe the follow up is due out shortly.
Overall a nice and spicy read and a good debut. Three and a half stars
This is Kimberly Bracco's first novel and she did a great job. Inhibitions is a story about a journalist Ashley and a famous quarterback Tanner. Ashley is journalist who is struggling financial (her ex took all her money) and emotionally (blaming her lack of sexuality for his wandering ways). Tanner is portrayed by the media as a cocky, womanizing, playboy. Ashley and Tanner's first meeting takes place when she is assigned to interview him for the paper she works for. The interview starts off well and there is an instant chemistry between them but once the questions get personal, that lust Tanner feels for Ashley turns to hate. He storms out of the interview leaving Ashley to deal with the fall out. Since Ashley is out of luck, she finds herself stranded (dead car battery) in the parking lot of the football facility. Tanner, the last person who she thought would help her, demands to drive her home. Along the way, Ashley realizes that she is wrong about Tanner and sees him for the real man he is. Determined, Ashley wants to reveal the "REAL TANNER" and sets out to show the world in the article she writes about him. Both Tanner and Ashley have trust issues for different reasons, but Tanner is determined to break down Ashley's walls. Just when you think that nothing can break them, Ashley's insecurities come rushing back opening old wounds. A mistake that was not revealed also breaks Tanner's trust and he is left questioning if he really knows Ashley at all. We are left wondering what the future has in store for Ashley and Tanner. Can the walls that they once tore down come tumbling down again? I was left wanting more, and can't wait to see where the two broken souls will head in book 2.
Inhibitions is a whirlwind romance between Ashley and Tanner. When Ashley is asked to fill in for an interview with the star QB of the Jets, she's nervous, and things continue to not go well for her. After catching her ex cheating on her, and then dealing with the debt he put her in, she hates players and everything she's read about Tanner makes her think he's the type of guy she should stay far away from.
When Tanner meets Ashley he's intrigued and amazing by the way he feels about her, but then she changes the line of questioning and pushes him too far and he goes off on her. At first I really hated his character and wanted to punch him, but he really grew on me throughout this book. He's not the self-centered jerk that I thought he was going to be, but rather a sweet guy who does everything he can for the people he cares about. When things go to crap with the interview, Tanner wants nothing to do with Ashley, yet can't keep his mind off of her, so when the opportunity to help her comes up, he jumps at it, and it becomes the start of an amazing story between these two.
At times, Ashley's character got on my nerves. She has so many past hurts, that she's insecure at times, but when she gets outside of her head, and lets Tanner show her how much he cares, things are beautiful with them. She slowly starts to open up to him about everything she's gone through, and in doing so, things become amazing between them. I loved how sweet and fun they were at times, and how hot and sexy they were at others. Through in Quinn (Ashley's best friend) and Alex (Tanner's best friend) and you have an amazing set of characters.Read more ›
Tanner and Ashley were two very well developed characters. There were times I loved them and times I didn't. Let's start with the very hot Tanner Garrison. What's not to love about a sexy football player? In my opinion, not much. Bracco wrote a character that you loved and loved to hate, just so you could love him again. Tanner is not your typical pro athlete that feeds off the media attention. He keeps his personal life private. He's tight-lipped and keeps his circle small. He has two best friends, Alex (another very swoony character) and Melissa. Melissa can provide a different type of friendship for Tanner. She's his plus one at events and other areas. But, enough about her. Let's talk Ashley!
Ashley is a journalist who was assigned to interview Tanner. She isn't a sports reporter, so she was a bit apprehensive before their meeting. Naturally, she is captivated by him and him by her. The heat between these two was palpable. Ashley is the woman you want as your friend. She's kind, generous and practical. Her best friend Quinn is a riot, and together, they perfect.
I don't want to give away spoilers, but let me just say, the author will take you on an emotional rollercoaster. The only difference is, when you're on the actual ride, you know what's coming. I truly loved this book/series. I give the UnInhibited Series 5 stars. Do yourself a favor and read it.
Thank you, Kimberly Bracco, for writing a wonderful story.
