I am so glad I did as they performed spectacularly for all 7 hours and 26 minutes I spent running rocky and muddy trails. I didn't have a singer blister or hot spot all race despite the wet and muddy conditions. Furthermore I didn't have to pull them up once as some of my other Injinji socks have been prone to slipping down while I ran. The crew length is also great because it kept all the mud and grime out; my legs were covered in it but when I pulled my socks off my feet were shocking white.
I highly recommend these to anyone planning on tackling tough trails in the future.
This last weekend, I completed my first ultra (50K) trail run. Pretty technical national forest run, with a large creek crossing in the very first mile. So I was concerned about being sloshy and wet for the rest of the run.
I never "try something new" in a race, but didn't get these Injinji's until the day before and had no time to do a test run.
I wear a size 12 in running shoes and these large's fit like a glove. The run went well and my feet were comfortable during the run, maybe a little warm at times, but skin was perfect after 50K with mud, rocks, sand and two deep water crossings! I'm a convert, so buying some of their lightweight versions now to try on upcoming local road marathon and Boston in April!
Very comfortable, good heal cushion, keeping your toes sepereated actually keeps you feet very comfortable.
The only draw backI found if your back is hurting you'll have a difficult time fitting your toes. In that case bring out your standard socks.
I am very pleased with The Injinji 2.0
Either way, I bought another pair, because both pairs of racing socks I have (still looking brand new) have holes in them, and I have another race coming up. AND, between both socks I've used I prefer these, and can get them in green for the Spartan Beast.
One caveat - I wore these around the house one night, and the threads on the bottom began to fray from contact with carpet. I still think they are very high quality, but they are really only made for one use, which is a shame, because they are supremely comfortable.
All in all, I've yet to find a better pair of hiking socks.
