About the author

Within a few months of Don Baird's birth, his family moved to Wyoming. He lived on his grandfather's ranch for a while -- in a converted chicken coup. Horses, bats, cattle, river, and rough weather became his way of life. Plus, roping his friends off their bikes! Today, Don is an award winning haiku poet that has written a variety of books -- the most recent called "the Poetry of God." In 2009, he was inducted into the Martial Art Masters Hall of Fame; and, recently (2015) he was featured at the Martial Arts Museum in Burbank, CA for "Don Baird Day." A bit eclectic or renaissance, he is a musician, artist, photographer, kung fu grandmaster, and poet. He is currently a pastor in North Carolina.
Other books written by Don are "Haiku Wisdom," "As the Crow Flies," and "Haiku - the Interior and Exterior of Being." Non haiku books are "Transcending the Void", "Suh Do Kwan," and "Feed the Dog, Let Out the Cat."
One of Don's more recent haiku books is "Triptych," 2019. It is a book of haiku that takes the reader from the rise of humanity, to its fall, and finally to its recovery (through hope). Each haiku links to the next, from beginning to end. Every haiku adds to the story and turn-of-events. Delicately woven, the story of humanity is told; brevity unfolds in a powerful way.
In 2023 he has written two books, "From Breath to Words," and "Divine Promises." The first one is a haiku book that leads the reader on a journey; you have to read it to experience it. "Divine Promises," is a devotional book that follows a similar line as "The Poetry of God." These are two very different books . . . but written simultaneously over a year and a half time. It's just the way it worked out.
