Used for my lead melter bullet casting kit. Once set up right (it insists on "learning the automatic constants" first - it works really well despite some horrible intermittent load changes (dump more cold alloy into the melter for casting). One of the hookups seems to give you degrees in F (the extra jumper at the TC wiring), but I just kept it C. A little overshoot sometimes - when hit hard with too much load and perhaps imperfect sensor placement, but way better than I need for this. It can be hard to get the buttons pressed behind the label - I just peeled it back to set mine up and then pushed the plastic membrane back over the adhesive.

Works great even after 3 years of purchase. Only thing you have to remember is the temperature is displayed in Celsius so you have to convert to Fahrenheit to have the correct temperature. Simple and easy to set up and use.

I set them up using ice water and changed the temp according to set temp with 2 other thermometers, then I did it on the hot side and they were not very constant, but I changed them again since I am using them to heat thing sup and maintain a higher temp. Had to play around with the manual auto and no manual but not sure I have them yet I set for 36 C and it keeps going to 40C. Lastly i set them up did not use for about month and half when i fired them up the calibrations were all off again so they need a power source every couple of weeks? Also they are in my garage would temp affect them?

Poor Quality Junk, SSRs don't work

I bought 2 of these. I am an opto-mechanical and elctronics technician by trade so I am not a dumb person.
I was no expert with these PIDs but I carefully followed the instructions and it didn't work. I started researching youtube to double check my connections. They were correct. Then I said, OK, lets look into how the SSR part works and make sure it is OK. It was NOT! I then researched this exact Inkbird SSR 40 relay and saw others had the same issue. The LED lights up like the DC side is supposed to be connected, but it was NOT. I then took out my second brand new SSR 40 just to see if possible I messed it up but doing something wrong. Knowing now exactly how it worked and what complaints were, I hooked up the relay by itself and simply sent 3-4volts and saw the red LED come on, yet again, when you ohm out the connection side there is NO CONNECTION! I then turned up the voltage higher and higher and there was no connection at any time. I see they are made in China. Complete Junk! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME.

While I have had no problems wiring the complete setup and powering the unit up, I must confess to having a problem setting the temperature. It does not mean one can purely connect up and switch on and get a correct reading of temperature. I have tried dipping the thermostat in melting ice and I do not get anything close to 0 C, more like 85 C which of course is totally wrong. I have downloaded extra manuals and will attempt to get the system setup once again. Hold thumbs for me. Any tips will be welcome.

Does what it needs to do. Would buy again, but would buy it again with a replacement sensor that’s longer. If what you’re installing the sensor into has even remotely thick walls, then the retaining nut will cover part of the sensor and make it sense extra low (which you can adjust for obviously).
