So let me share a little 'bout Wes and Jillian's story In case you have been living in a cave and have not read any of the other Montgomery Ink books Wes (Wesley)is a twin to Storm. Storm and Jillian used to be "bed buddies" but nothing more. When Storm found his happy ending in book 7 to Everly, Jillian became Storm's best friend. Wes on the other hand well... Hang on let me back up here. I left out on very important thing to those who might not follow the books. Jillian is a plumber and a good one at that. She works for Montgomery Inc (the building side of the family business). Wes and Storm also work for this side of the family business. So, they all work for and in the same business. Yep, close together side by side...well not always side by side as they do remodels and rebuilds all over the place. But you get my drift.
So, there seems to be this tension below the surface with Wes and Jillian whenever they are together. What exactly is it? The tension that is there is not just them though and that is what makes this book so good for me. This book doesn't just focus on romance is a sexy sense but it also gives us a mystery and one that is hidden and written into the storyline in a really good way. It would sneak in and strike out in at times and make me JUMP.
I would be remiss if I did not tell you to be sure to have your tissues on hand when reading this book. There are times I cried myself silly. Especially knowing history that went on behind the scenes. This book will always have an extra special place in my heart. It is a book that is well written and so worth the read as a romance, mystery even and yes of course within the place of the Montgomery Ink legacy.
I was both sad and excited to start Wes and Jillian’s story. Sad because Wes is the end of the Denver Montgomery family; the start of it all, excited because we will soon be starting on a new branch of the family,
Wes and Jillian have had a heck of a start. Jillian is the Montgomery Inc.’s new head plumber, her best friend and ex “friends with benefits” is Storm Montgomery, who is also one of her new bosses.
Wes has a hard time understanding the relationship between Storm and Jillian. How can they be so friendly after ending their relationship? How is she so friendly with his new fiancé? Why do he and Jillian do nothing but fight and why is he so attracted to her?
Jillian is super excited for Storm and Everly, yes they were a thing, but they weren’t really together. She also is busy with her new job at Montgomery Inc and taking care of her father, but she decided that it’s time for her to find her happy like Storm and Everly have found theirs.
Wes and Jillian are so attracted to each other, thus the fighting, and neither know what to do about it. It’s crazy!! Lol
They decide to stop fighting it and go for it and boy do they go for it. Wes and Jillian are perfect for each other and now that they decided to try to be a couple the realize that the fighting was just fore play and they are perfect for each other.
There are lots of things going on in this book that keep you reading. Wes is jumped, there is lots of mysterious break ins and vandalism at a new job site, a death, a Montgomery Family Reunion, the feels are all over the place and it’s great.
Ryan could not have ended this branch of the Montgomery family on a better note or with a better couple.
Not only was she beautiful and smart. She could hold her own with the rest of them. She drove him crazy and made him crave her in ways no other woman ever did before.
Jillian Reid was the new plumber at Montgomery Inc. She had a "friends with benefits" relationship with her best-friend, Storm. He knew she wasn't in love with him and vice versa so she let him go in order for him to find his happiness.
Now she found herself attracted to the one man she shouldn't, Wes Montgomery. Which was a bad idea if only her mind and body would stop thinking about the sexy as sin man. She fought her feelings for as long as she could.
When her father's health took a turn for the worse. Something broke inside of her and she decided it was time to pursue her own happiness. She was going to live life to the fullest which was her late father's favorite motto.
Wes was attacked and left for dead. The assailants where look for something he and Jillian found at one of their jobsites. His attack made Jillian evaluate what was building between them.
When she found herself in a lingering in numbness. She just wanted to feel again, she also knew the only person she could turn to for help was Wes. Things between changed in ways neither them was prepared for.
They put all their cards on the table and took a step towards their future together. Danger was lurking around them. Both Wes and Jillian were willing to give their lives for each other.
What an incredible journey it has been to see the Montgomery siblings find happiness. The family keeps expanding and they wouldn't want it any other way.
INK MEMORIES is the eighth book in Carrie Ann Ryan's MONTGOMERY INK series. It was fascinating, adventurous, heartbreaking, engrossing and sizzling. Carrie Ann Ryan had me hooked from the prologue until the epilogue.
P. S. Looking forward to officially meeting the Montgomery cousins (Colorado Springs) and taking this new venture with Carrie Ann Ryan ;).
