This system worked fine for about half a year (bought it August 2, 2012). Compared to some other Atoms it is slightly faster (higher clock and faster memory) and has virtualization support (so you can use XEN) along with x86_64. However, after a certain time I just decided to restart the system. After restarting it, it did not boot Debian from the hard disk. It could boot from USB, CDs, but not from any hard disk whereas it could do it just fine before it failed. Changing the settings in the BIOS did not fix the problem, mostly because the settings in the BIOS were never saved when they were changed (and the normal recovery situations all failed)! So the system is quite useless when it fails on booting from a hard disk. I could put the system on crutches and make a USB drive or CD to boot the hard disk but that would not work as I placed hard disks first in the boot order.

I used this for a mass file server with some nice PCI and PCI-Mini SATA Cards to give me a system with 12 SATA slots (could probably get it to 20 slots).

Also the 2700MUD was pulled from the market because nobody wants a high speed Atom, perhaps there were other issues with it that they do not want anyone to know about.

This is the second Intel Atom board I have purchased.

It requires no fan to run and replaced an Intel Pentium 4 via board.

The installation software worked without a hitch. It does provide a utility for creating your own very video driver. I am running Windows XP.

I use the system for Microsoft Office, e-mail, some music recordings via a home studio and web browsing. It meets my current needs.

It is unclear if this will be compatible with Windows 8, or if it will even be suitable in that environment. Intel is unclear on this point.
