The book grew out of a study group of the Weavers & Spinners Society of Austin. For most of the 2015-2016 Guild year the group met at the author's house once a month. It is organized as a study group guide, with each meeting exploring a different non-fiber art form and ways to draw inspiration from it. It could also be used for individual study or simply as a way to learn about a range of art forms.
