How to use this product
1. Remove the indentation plastic piece. You do not need these
2. Fill half of each side
3. Use a spoon or your thumb to create indents in the riceball
4. Put in your filling
5. Cover with rice
6. Use the other plastic piece to press down on the rice ball
7. Remove rice ball and add your finishing touches

Super easy to use and awesome little gadget. I originally tried rolling onigiri by hand and failed miserably and this mold saved me. I dip it in water before putting rice in, and marked the sides with a sharpie so I know when to stop filling. The actual height of the mold is not the true thickness of your onigiri. I don't use the buttons, which I think are for filling the outside of the onigiri. Instead, I put half the rice in, make a dent with my finger, fill, then put the other half of the rice in so that the filling is on the inside. It's also super fun and satisfying to press the pop-out button at the end.

I was skeptical at first, I have seen many people make their own rice balls without such a contraption. However, making the supposedly simple onigiri was out of my skill set, so I decided to give this a try. You know what? It works beautifully!
While it is best to let the rice cool slightly after cooking, I no longer have to worry about burning my hands if I start too early. You can just put the rice in the mold with a spoon or ladle without touching the rice if you are careful. There is something very satisfying about seeing such perfectly shaped rice balls! Don't forget to order seaweed for this.

I've wanted to make onigiri for the longest time...like forever? Yeah, forever :) So I bought this. Really cheap. Made out of plastic, all you have to do is put the rice into the mold, place the cover over the mold, and squeeze tight for a few seconds. Afterwards, press the bottom of the plastic mold to pop the rice out and you have perfect triangle onigiri. It's also really easy to clean. Not messy either! The mold really compacts the rice into place so you don't have rice fallout or anything, if that makes sense.

One note: you will THINK these are too small, especially if you are making them for dinner.

You will be wrong. 2 of these are probably enough for an adult, 3 (which we made for ourselves the first time) are too much, but on the other hand, they were delicious and we ate them anyway.

OKay to use just thought it would be different, i add the rice then in the middle the goodies then top with more rice and press but once the rice comes out of the mold it looks like i just placed two different rice molds together so they really don't hold well even if i add more rice or press more so its very thigh, I guess i can continue trying to figure out how to make it work so the triangle does not fall apart.

Compré este utensilio para hacer onigiris que realmente parecieran onigiris y no simplemente una bola de arroz. Los onigiris son triángulos de arroz que típicamente van rellenos de algo (en mi caso, prefiero rellenarlos de atún). Aunque por las fotos parece que son dos utensilios, la verdad es que forman parte de uno solo. Es decir, no es que puedas hacer cuatro onigiris (dos con el utensilio grande y dos con el pequeño); nada más puedes hacer dos onigiris ya que el pequeño se utiliza para compactar (aplastar) el arroz en el grande.

El utensilio viene con unas instrucciones en japonés, pero tienen indicaciones con dibujos para aquellos que no entendemos dicho idioma. Primer tomas el utensilio grande y llenas el hueco con arroz (típicamente lo lleno a 3/4 de su capacidad). Luego utilizando el utensilio pequeño, compactas el arroz. Luego sacas el utensilio pequeño y le pones el relleno al arroz compactado que está en el utensilio grande. A continuación le vuelves a poner arroz al utensilio grande (encima del relleno), y lo compactas con el utensilio pequeño. ¿Qué habrás hecho? ¿Habras compactado el arroz del fondo, con el relleno en medio, y luego otra capa de arroz arriba, creando el onigiri perfecto. Curiosamente el arroz no se queda pegado al utensilio, así que tu onigiri no perderá su figura triangular cuando lo empujes fuera del molde, utilizando los aditamentos incluidos en el producto. Al final puedes complementar con Nori (el alga que se usa en el sushi).

El producto es fácil de lavar, y muy práctico. En poco tiempo puedes tener un montón de onigiris. Lo recomiendo ampliamente.

At first I thought this thing made one onigiri at a time, I guess you can, but you would get once huge onigiri. You can make 2 at a time. You have to kinda over fill it a little bit. and you use the other part to push it down so it will hold. It would be nice to have a little diagram for someone like me, and maybe a few who reported this in their reviews. I fill the bottom mold a little above the halfway mark. I put in my filling, then put more rice where it goes over the top a bit. Then I push it down using the top mold with a good amount of pressure. Boom, 2 perfectly shaped onigiris. They come out pretty easy. Some of the rice does stick to the top mold though. Not much. There is a round attachment you can put on the top part of the mold, where it will leave a small round indent on the top of the onigiri. I suppose you can put a added ingredient on the top.

Basta applicare un pezzetto di alga nori e fine. Semplicemente perfetti.

I think the design of the push-area of this mold is the best, compared to other ones out there.
The inside area is also covered with slight ridges that prevent the rice from sticking too much. Usually, with other molds you'd have to rinse it once in a while to remove the rice starch, but this one works well without rinsing.
The seller also included a thank-you note and a little Japanese craft paper, which was a nice touch.
