Loved the look and the color, they felt great too after they were used a few times.
These were my first lifting shoes and I used them for crossfit (only during lifts, used my Nanos when not lifting).
I really wanted to keep these shoes, unfortunately I had to send them back after about 4 months of use. (about 2-3 times a week for 10-15 mins each).
Two reasons I gave them 1 star:
-Velcro started to fall apart.
-Inov-8 doesn't respond to customers.
-The velcro strap started to fail (see picture), the seam connecting the loop section and the hook section started to come apart on both shoes.
-After emailing the company for a warranty exchange, at their return email (email@example.com), I did not receive a reply from them after a couple days. I emailed them again after Amazon accepted the return (even outside of their return window), and still no response, its been over 1 week. I didn't even get one of those automated "we got your email and someone will be in contact with you shortly" replies.
I would have given the shoes a better rating had the issue been resolved, tossing it up to a QA issue. However Inov-8's complete lack of customer service has turned me off. They are dead to me.
We've got some folks at the gym that have these and have not had the issue I had, but I did see another amazon review with the same (and even worse) issue in a shorter period of time.
I applaud Amazon for picking up the slack and accepting the return outside of the return window as a warranty issue.
Feel nice and firm and the heel made a difference in the squat. Felt nice benching too. Looking forward to more time with these shoes.
I have a wide foot and usually buy a 12.5-13, as wide as possible. I bought these in 12.5 D and they fit great. Possibly could have gone down a half size but i would have to have them side by side to test out. Anyway nice fit for a wide foot.
Seller shipped quick. With the sale price these are a no brainer.
The build quality is decent but not great. There's a lot of single-stitching which may or may not give out, and the stitching on the support strap looked kind of flaky. Overall, I think if these are used for power-lifting sessions ONLY, and not used too much for walking around, they should last. For me personally, they didn't seem to be a huge improvement over the driving-style shoes (no padding, flat bottoms) that I usually use when power-lifting, so I returned them. I knew that going to the gym in one pair of shoes, changing to these, doing my sets, and changing back to my other shoes would probably get old, and I'd stop doing it - but that's just me. I think if you are lifting in running shoes - or any shoes with heavy cushioning - these will be an improvement.
My only worry with these shoes is the same as what others have posted. The velcro seems to be attached at only a small point on the shoe, and I worry that it will come off some day. I don't wear these enough to have worn through that yet, but I can see why others had issues with it (which is why this is getting a 4/5 star rating).
- Fits as expected
- Great color scheme
- Great for lifting (stiff and heel raise is perfect)
- Longevity issues?
I would definitely recommend these overall!
