Would like to add, that I have now been using these shoes for just over two years. The shoe does now show wear, my feet are sliding around inside regardless of how tight I lace them. Time for a new pair, not sure if i will purchase these again but I would recommend them overall still. My only comment is that there is a lot of plastic in this product and this is probably why they are fitting poorly now.
Nothing has fixed my squats like these shoes. I can now get loooooowwwwwww and I feel solid and strong in the hole. They work as stated and I don't squat without them. I promise you won't beat the price either. I looked for weeks for a pair squatting shoes and didn't find any that weren't at least 100 bucks. I would recommend this product to friends.
These serve the purpose perfectly. The fit is wide, so just buy your size even if you have wide feet. They are very light yet stable under load, and my transition was smooth from minimalist shoes to these. If you used to squat low bar on flat shoes, remember to sit back more with these. If you squat high bar, don't change anything. I hit two PRs in my first week on these, that too while on the squat-everyday bulgarian system. I got 315lb on tuesday with low bar and 320lb on thursday on a slightly wider stance high bar squat (think John Haack). For the first time I realized what it means to push through my heels into the ground.
Can't really complain about them. Give them a try if you're looking for raised-heel shoes within budget!!
They're honestly not as drastic a change as I thought they would be but perhaps that's a good thing. I'm actually below parallel with my front squat which says a lot. They're very hard on the sole so they're not shoes for running or leisure. Overall, I'm pleased with this purchase. I see no problems with the shoes. Though I will say, I'm not concerned with durability as I'm wearing these for a half an hour every other day inside my home.
The most important part of this for me is being able to achieve a better squat range of motion while assisted (with these shoes) is keeping me motivated to continue my efforts to address the problems I have.
- The soles are wide and flat and hard. This gives me a good, solid foundation while balancing barbells and plates on my back. It doesn't shift or compress at all like squishy running shoes.
- The heels are elevated, which does 2 things when I squat: helps my upper body stay upright (I have a habit of leaning too far forward), and allows me to squat more deeply.
They fit my short, wide feet perfectly.
