Teagan is determined to bring Women's Lib to the Parvac empire. Princess Neema has already shown a decided preference towards starships and blasters and her niece, Galina, wants to hunt ice bears and wolves. Neither of these dreams can be realized if women aren't allowed to serve. When a chance to show that women can do just as well as the warriors is put before her and her friends and family, she takes the opportunity to prove it. What happens along the way will test her resolve and sanity, though. Of all the battles Teagan has faced the betrayal of a loved one packs the most pain.
The saga continues in this latest book. There were times the writing style changed a bit and concerned me as I like Wendie's style and the deviation disconcerted me. A few places were rather dark and heartbreaking. Slight trigger warning- sexual assault, not a completed rape but still traumatic for the character.
Last but not least...who could forget the romance? Wendie delivered that in spades with the bonus of a few scorching scenes. There were some surprise (to me) husband additions too but I won't give this away. But best of all? Eli.
Fangirling aside this book has amazing character development. From the first book to this one we have seen Teagan and her band of men progress mentally and physically. Their relationship has become stronger for all the trials they have been through. Poor Teagan had quite a few trials this book and though I understood the reasons for it after it’s resolution I can’t help but be angry for the need. Yet that is what this series does. It evokes true emotion and you become utterly invested in the characters. I cannot wait to see how this series continues to evolve. This was the best book yet.
We watch her add new love to her life, and can only guess what will happen next!
I am eagerly awaiting the next book. I suppose I’ll have to be content with retreading until the next book is released.
Keep it coming Wendie! You are an amazing author!
There was laughing, loving, and good tImes but also darkness. The darkness is due to the quest of getting the guy who caused all her problems even before birth. There is a trigger here - possible sexual assault.
I highly recommend this book and series.
