Its title alone perfectly describes the author’s passion for living life on the edge. Fresh out of college, relying on guile and grit, Scott Stone backpacked around the world for nearly three years living on just dollars a day. The extraordinary journey changed him forever, and sparked a lifelong fascination with travel to far-flung corners of the globe. Years later, it motivated the writing of this remarkable memoir.
Every chapter is a stand-alone vignette and a little gem. These are wonderful stories, wonderfully told – all thoroughly satisfying snapshots from his life-changing odyssey. Stone’s vivid writing brings memorable characters and exotic places sharply to life. His jaw-dropping experiences, thought-provoking observations, his humanity and humor, permeate every page. A poignant, underlying theme is the kindness of strangers – a reassuring reminder that there is plenty of good in this world. He quotes the Indian poet Tagore, “We are invited to the festival of life.” Clearly, Scott Stone revels in the festival – a rare bird who soars through life, doing his best to relish every moment. That’s why you’ll want to read his exceptional book. You’ll get to travel vicariously with Scott. Trust me, you’ll have a blast.
Insatiable is a great read. You won’t want to put it down.

Stone, has a remarkable wanderlust and he takes us with him to incredible places I've dreamed of visiting and to other places I've been but never seen as he has. In the tales of these places he shares very personal experiences but most of all these tales are highlighted with intimate encounters and engagements with a wonderful assortment of colorful characters. His writing is full of humility, humanity and wit, Its a fun read.
While choosing to be a lone traveler, using "magic messages" to communicate with the locals, he manages to secure food, work and occasional lodgings and to simultaneously "absorb" the truest of experiences of being a backpacker in strange yet wondrous lands.
This is much more than a simple memoir of his bold undertakings; it is a journal of an enthusiast living LIFE to its fullest and at the same time giving insight to the reader to what the world's people have to offer " the willing traveler."
