Chrys Fey is a disabled, tattooed author of books featuring heroines of steel. Her Disaster Crimes series is a unique blend of romance, disasters, and crimes, influenced by her own experiences with natural disasters. The conclusion of her series inspired her to create TheFightingChance.org, a resource for domestic violence survivors. On her blog, WritewithFey.com, she supports, empowers, and teaches fellow writers. She also edits for freelance clients and co-hosts a local writers group.

Heather M. Gardner's love of books began on the hand-woven rugs of her small town library where her mother worked. There she had a never-ending supply of stories to read at her fingertips. As a teen, her favorite genres to curl up with were romance and mysteries. She loves to read about realistic and interesting characters and when she couldn’t find them on the shelf, she started to write her own.
Heather lives in the state of New York with her husband and son, working part-time, writing, volunteering, and ignoring the dust bunnies in the corner. She’s currently owned by one bitey, yet adorable, rescue dog and two rescue kittens that only go two speeds, Asleep and Ridiculous Speed. She’s a chocolate enthusiast, coffee junkie, pet addict, book hoarder, and fluent in sarcasm.

Loni Townsend
Wife. Mother. Writer. Ninja. Squirrel.
By day, she writes code. By predawn darkness, she writes fantasies. All other times, she writes in her head.
People call her peculiar with a twisted sense of fashion, but don't let those understatements fool you. Her behavior is perfectly normal for a squirrel disguised as a human. That's part of being an epic ninja—blending in.
She makes her home in Idaho with her sadistically clever—yet often thwarted—husband, two frighteningly brilliant children, and three sneaky little shibas.
Thanmir War is her debut novel.

S.A. Larsen is an award-winning author, childhood apraxia of speech advocate, and Maine-iac ice hockey fan, who has watched more hockey games than she could ever count. Samantha Bryant believes in love, magic, and unexplainable connections between people. Her favorite things are lonely beaches, untamed cliff tops, sunlight through the leaves of trees, summer rains, and children's laughter. She lives in North Carolina, grew up in Kentucky, and left her heart in Alaska. She is fierce at heart, though she doesn't look it.
She reads poetry and comic books, sometimes on the same day because she contains multitudes.
She writes blogs, poems, essays, and novels. Mostly she writes about things that scare or worry her because writing is a great work to work things out. Someday, she hopes to make her living solely as a writer. In the meantime, she also teaches middle school Spanish, which, admittedly, is an odd choice for money-earning, especially in North Carolina.
When she's not writing or teaching, Samantha enjoys time with her family, watching old movies, baking, reading, and going places. Her favorite gift is tickets (to just about anything).
Author. Screenwriter. Ambassador of ARTistry.
Biochemist by degree―creative and comical by design―Sam creates compelling artistic visions under the steady influence of locally roasted coffee, including speculative fiction novels & charity anthologies, film/television/streaming media scripts, video game storyboards, short films, and international music collaborations. A fan of all things fantastical and frightening, Shannon Lawrence writes in her dungeon when her minions will allow, often accompanied by her familiar, Cleo. She writes primarily horror, fantasy, and mystery, but dabbles all over. Her stories can be found in anthologies and magazines, as well as in her three horror short story collections. In addition, her nonfiction book "The Business of Short Stories" is now available, and she's the co-host of a true crime podcast: Mysteries, Monsters, & Mayhem. When she's not writing, she's hiking through the wilds of Colorado and photographing her magnificent surroundings.
Though she's lived in Colorado for most of her life, she moved around a bit before settling there, previously living in Maryland, Oregon, and California, where she was born. She often misses the ocean, but the majestic and rugged Rockies are a sight she could never part with. Besides, in Colorado there's always a place to hide a body or birth a monster. What more could she ask for?
Denise C Covey is a native Queenslander from Australia’s Sunshine Coast. Her travel bag is always ready for that next overseas trip when travel is permitted again. When she’s not working as an educator, she writes. Her novella, Under the Tuscan Moon was inspired by adventures in Tuscany, with its medieval villas, its hill towns bordered by gates and parapets, its noble past and its magical forests. Imagining those forests during medieval times saw the birth of her vampire series.
Denise has had flash fiction, short stories and travel articles published in Australian magazines. Other publications include a vignette in the first edition of the Vine Leaves Literary Journal, a flash fiction in the Campaigner Challenges e-book in 2011, and the Dog Days of Summer flash fiction competition on Conversations from Land’s Edge where she placed second. An article she compiled on writing craft was published in the Insecure Writers Support Group e-book. Her fictionalized story on the Queensland 2011 floods opened the Overcoming Adversity, Stories for Andrew e-book. She’s currently working on publishing several novels and short story collection. Her first novel set in Paris, Paris Dreams is currently in pre-order. Her series of classic vampire tales set in Renaissance times will be published under her pen name, Silver Tree.
Denise is online at her blog, Denise Covey, http://dencovey.blogspot.com on Facebook, on Twitter, on Pinterest and Wattpad.

Her short story 'Where There's Life' was shortlisted for the Surrey (Canada) International Writers' Conference Storyteller's Award in 2013. However, two of the essays were worse than useless: they had useful information I had to translate before I could make sense of it. One was written entirely in rhyme. The other was written in puns, homophones, and other confusing constructs. Because of this, I can only give four stars.
This book covers details on the writing process, editing, publishing, and marketing. Some of the articles are very good; I bookmarked almost ten. Some are bad. Some are repetitious. I don't see anyone using all the articles, but many will be useful to the self-publishing and traditional publishing alike.
Writing: 4 stars
Editing: 4 stars
Proofreading: 5 stars
Design: 3 stars (I despise table of contents in the back)
I hope by then the Kindle file will have been revised to make sure that there is a complete index -- the version I downloaded, the index only goes about three-quarters of the way through the first section (writing). That's the bad news, a formatting flaw that really makes it difficult to skip around from one interesting-sounding article to the next. There may be some gold in them thar hills, but it's buried without a working index, so I can't say for sure whether it's a rich vein or just a few flecks that will grab your interest only to disappoint you once you start digging.
Highly recommended, and the authors – true stars!
These authors within the book are generous with their self gained information as well as sharing proven examples as well as resources. For example, there are tips on self editing, media kits, character creation, blog tours, social media, marketing. and a timeline for book signing events.
I noticed that several authors shared experiences that will save you time and bump you along any type of writing hurdle.
Each chapter is written by a different author, so styles vary. Some are very informative, some are inspiring, and others are just plain funny (especially the last entry). The good thing, is there's something for everyone. Writers in any stage of their career will certainly appreciate this book.
The group and it's founder, Alex J. Cavanaugh, are wonderfully supportive to the writing/blogging community.
To celebrate the group anniversary, they published a book to help writer's even more!
This book is for anyone who needs help with or has questions about writing, publishing and marketing.
Download it today!
You won't be disappointed.
Thank you to all the IWSG Admins and Alex for their hard work!
