I bought Volume V first and this Volume IV second as I watched the YouTube video "The Zapruder Film Mystery" basically an interview of Dino Brugioni by Douglas Horne and Horne's detailed explanation of the real chain of events behind the Zapruder Film during the weekend of November 22-24, 1963. Douglas Horne explores every single avenue in his exhaustive search for the truth. In this Volume there are two chapters, with chapter 14 being the Zapruder Film Mystery, my main interest. Horne with the help of many other researchers, who he cites throughout, unravels the Zapruder Film's secrect travels to the CIA's National Photographic Interpretation Center on the night of Saturday November 23, 1963, and again as a revised version the next night after a side trip to Kodak's "Hawkeye Works" in Rochester, New York that Sunday.
It has always bothered me that only one frame of film, frame 313, showed the explosion of President Kennedy 's head with no residue effects on the next group of frames, especially with the frames being one eighteenth of a second in length of time. That one fact in itself was troubling to me. Doing a self experiment by videoing a .44 Magnum bullet being shot into a gallon coffee creamer jug filled with water, took just over one second in time for all the water spray and red container lid to come to rest.
I highly recommend these volumes as the best set of volumes that disprove the 26 volumes of the fairy tale called the Warren Report.

About the Author
Douglas Horne graduated Cum Laude from The Ohio State University in 1974 with a B.A. in History, and worked for the Navy in various capacities for 20 years before joining the staff of the Assassination Records Review Board in 1995. Doug served on active duty in the Navy as a junior officer for ten years, achieving professional qualification as a Surface Warfare Officer in 1976, and was stationed onboard three surface combatants in the Pacific Fleet: USS Ouellet (FF-1077); USS Reeves (CG-24); and USS Worden (CG-18). Mr. Horne subsequently worked for the Navy for ten more years in a civil service capacity, in a vital Cold War antisubmarine warfare program. Following his ARRB experiences, Doug filled the post of Manager, Visitor Services Branch at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. He now works for the State Department.

I have read the first 3 volumes and am halfway through with volume 4. As others have stated, these books are most useful to someone that has read their fair share of the other books that Horne refers to to fill in some of the blanks.
I have been a student of the assassination for over 20 years and have read about 25 or more of these books, Horne spells everything out logically and convincingly. When you look at the big picture - the Cold War culture the US military had in the 50's and 60's, JFK's handling of his advisers after they hung him out to dry for the Bay of Pigs, the way he detoured a nuclear war, and pretty much everyone knowing that he would be re-elected, you have the why. The how was put in motion years before with the Oswald patsy setup, and the cover up that wasn't perfect and is still going on.
I have learned so much more about the autopsy and the manipulations in these volumes than I have before. Once Kennedy was placed in the Dallas casket and illegally removed from Parkland Hospital, the orchestration and cover up began.
The price may seem steep at first, but when you consider the amount of work that went into this and the information that is forthcoming, it's not a hindrance at all.

This is Vol. IV of Mr. Horne's five-volume set. I was confused and ordered this one first by accident. I'm glad I did because it involves two events which to me are the most interesting and baffling of the entire JFK case: the President's arrival and treatment at Bethesda and the Zapruder film.
Short version: the author provides further corroboration of the time of the arrival of JFK's body at Bethesda and sets forth a most plausible scenario of what was done to the body between 6:35 and the time the autopsy began, which was around 8:00. The author also provides an alternate interpretation of the statement made by Dr. James Humes that it appeared as if surgery had been done to the head, a statement that David Lifton had evidently misinterpreted. Dr. Humes, whom we have long known to have been untruthful, is revealed as much more than that. Suffice to say that when Dr. Humes shuffled off this mortal coil and went to meet his Maker, his Maker was probably very, very unhappy with the doctor. I'm pretty sure his Maker sent him downstairs without having to give it much thought.
In the matter of the Zapruder film, Mr. Horne shows that there is no doubt the CIA did something with the film. Two separate events at the CIA's NPIC, one on Saturday night and one on Sunday night, both involving the Zapruder film and each done by completely different sets of employees, provide very convincing evidence that the second event dealt with an altered version of the film. Mr. Horne also succeeds in destroying the credibility of Roland Zavada's report that concluded no alterations had been made, that the film we possess is indeed the original. It's not.
If you want to be as up-to-date as possible about matters JFK, it is essential that you read this book. I have ordered the other four volumes in the set now that I know how valuable Mr. Horne's work is. I suggest you do the same.

These books are available on demand. If you are someone who cares (like me), these books NEED to be in your reference library.
Possibly the politicians expected nothing new to come out of the JFK Records Act. Thanks to the wise decision to bring Douglas P. Horne on board, we have the words of those who were actually there. Mr. Horne meticulously documents the work he was part of and the jaw-dropping & nearly unbelieveable travesty of what was done to our president, his body & our country.
If I only had the money, this set would be in the library of every U.S. school. They don't have to be ordered at the same time so why not buy book #1 and see for yourself. I'm confident you will want to own the whole set!
