"You're Gonna Hear from Me," 15-year-old gamine Daisy Clover sings from the silver screen to an adoring public, although in the 1930s, "star treatment" can go all the way from being discovered to being discarded. Natalie Wood plays the title role with gusto in this blend of Hollywood stardust and melodrama from the producer/director team (Alan J. Pakula and Robert Mulligan) that had already sublimely showcased her in Love with the Proper Stranger. Also heard from are Wood's costars Robert Redford (as the vain movie star who weds Daisy) and Ruth Gordon (as Daisy's mother), both winning Golden Globes for their work here (Gordon earned an Oscar nomination as well).

I saw Daisy Clover when I was 14yrs young, I loved Natalie Wood! So the Film was a bit scary for me, how they pushed her around and I hated how *Robert Redfords* Character treated *Daisy*! It was me years before I saw the film again in my 20's and I had a different outlook as a young woman! So then I liked the movie! Just had to rent it again to see *Natalie* brilliant performance and of course *Redfords* wonderful performance!

Inside Daisy Clover seemed to be an "old style" movie going for a 60's take of a modern, hip and cool artistic edgy approach to telling the story. The actors are playing stereotypes of people involved in making movies and movie stars in the 30's. Natalie Wood can do anything and I'll love her in it. Robert Redford plays a closeted bisexual movie star, with a devil may care attitude that effortlessly sweeps Natalie off her innocent feet. Christopher Plummer is great as the producer with a sinister edge who makes a quirky trailer park raised girl into Americas sweetheart. What this movie lacks in realism it more than compensates in it's campiness.

I've waited a long time to own this movie. The DVD is in 2.35 ratio, not my favorite by any means, but there were no other options. The picture is clear and no soundtrack problems. The story may be a bit outdated but I still thoroughly enjoy it. Natalie Wood is great and at the end, you wonder why anyone wants to be an actor and get tangled up in the whole process of making movies. This is a movie that makes you use your brain, not just your eyes to see fancy visual effects. I feel it's well worth seeing, and for those who enjoy what Hollywood used to give us, you should enjoy this very much.
