I started my computing career in 1987 where DOS was king. Perusing through this book brought back all memories of how I used DOS. It is no wonder why I still covet, to this day, working at the command line.

I've owned this book forever. When I started an IT career, this was a critical step in understanding what a PC did, how the components worked together, and what maintenance was required.
No cloud computing at the time. If you are starting out in IT and have no idea how computers work - this is essential for fully understanding what virtual machines and cloud computing offer via abstraction. Virtual or not - these explanations provide the why and how CPU, MEM, DISK, and NETWORK work and are interdependent for performant operation.
