Bull owns a gay bar in Harrisburg where Zach and his friends Jeremy, Tristan and Kevin, often hang out, but Bull is often the doorman as well, hence a serendipitous was of introducing them because Bull naturally has to pat Zach down (Zach, the tease, invites it). After that the story takes turns that are ticklish in other ways--Bull's overbearing mother, Zach's horrifying childhood memories, a mysterious mercenary who wants to drag Bull back into the business, to start.
But through it all these two inch, then crawl, then grope, then plunge into a very special couple, one that you feel need their space and their outside conflicts to bring them very much together.
Grey has a special way with these kinds of relationships--older with younger, taller with shorter, agnostic with devout, burly cop with gentle musician, abused young men with confused mentors. In this one he hits the bell loudly and hints at more to come. Good.
Zack is another of those old sayings "done judge a book by its cover". What could be a weak, scared, helpless guy is really a strong loving person. Thank you for writing books 2 and 3 of this series. I hope these is more to come.....
Another Andrew Grey trip for me!
Bull is such a rough and tough guy on the outside, but a real sweetie inside. And Zach is such a tender younger guy, but spunky, too. What a loving match they make as we watch it happen,finally.. As usual Andrew has taken us on a nail biting and riveting journey for each of them separately and together which unfolds before our reading eyes. Big guy, little guy combination is such a treat. Each with his own heartbreaking story which they work out together to join them together into a love story. As usual, one of those Andrew books that you don't want to end. But a relief when they make it unfold into a wonderful story. Not an easy trip for either one, but what a happy ending. Can hardly wait for Andrew's next trip to take us on with him.
