This Nova episode is one of my all time favorites
it is very informative in terms of artistic techniques and history of Leonardo
and it is also very informative in terms of the art authentication techniques and forgeries

this story takes you around the world and involves some highly intelligent and talented people to trace the root of this mysterious painting
from the US to Switzerland to Warsaw

it blended the art with science and history extremely well
and is a great tip of the hat to the Renaissance and to the Master Engineer/Artist Leonardo Da Vinci

This is great channel and NOVA would never disappoint you. I have been watching this program through KQED Channel 9 here in the Bay Area and it has never let me down yet program-wise. This channel has a lot of great stories pertaining to real people's lives and I highly recommend this program if you're into documentaries...

I found a reference to this in a Chemistry book my children and I are working through. We home school and 'Hunting the Elements' episode in Nova Season 8 was engaging and informative on things we would not have a chance to see 'firsthand' otherwise. It was priceless educational material that fully engaged my children!

This episode of NOVA begins as a descriptive account of an archeological site in Colorado but ends presenting evidence that humans may have inhabitted North America much sooner than previously thought by scientists. Highly recommended viewing!

Top shelf program that is educational and at times "mind boggling". How ever thinks television isn't worth their time either is a know-it-all, or hasn't view NOVA covering a subject matter that has meaning to them.

It seems Amazon's left hand knows not what its right hand is doing. I just gave a description a minute ago. The reenactment of blowing up an important power dam during WW2 gives a vivid representation of the difficulties encountered in designing and dropping a bomb capable of skipping several times on the surface of the impounded water, reaching the dam, then rolling back and down to just the right depth to damage the dam sufficiently to destroy it is impressive. The number of planes and men lost in the development and then the delivery of a bomb was large, but the dam was blown up and the valley below devastated.

This show demonstrates some flaws that have existed in forensic evidence and collection of it. It shows examples of when seemingly solid evidence turns out to be wrong. It underscores the importance of having properly trained first responder personnel to assure that vital evidence is not contaminated or compromised.

What is really interesting is that they use real cases as examples to what they are referring to. They go on to show and demonstrate new technologies that have been used and are being worked on to improve evidence collection and preservation.

The technology that they show is both astounding and creative. Gamers take heart, once again the scientific community beckons you.

If you are still scratching your head about what happened with the OJ Simpson / Nicole Simpson Brown case, this show can help to shed some light for you.

This is not a piece by piece detailed show, it is merely a quick glimpse inside of forensic evidence and its history and use currently in crime scene investigation.

This would be interesting for any students just entering the field of study or for those people on the couch who enjoy any of those true crime types of shows. Although, not nearly as suspenseful. :)
