"The Instant Pot intimidated me. For this busy mom, it was like learning to cook all over again and I didn’t really have the time. So in the garage it sat…until I got this cookbook. Here I found approachable Instant Pot recipes that the whole family could enjoy. Whether you are new to the Instant Pot or if you are a pressure-cooker pro looking for fresh inspiration, The Instant Pot® Electric Pressure Cooker Cookbook: Easy Recipes for Fast & Healthy Meals needs to be in your kitchen!"—Julie Clark, Tastes of Lizzy T blog

"There has been a lot of commentary about "Instant Pot" books lately, about the many unauthorized uses of the name, and the many free e-books...and some resulting food waste...There have been a couple of books published with permission, and there are some high quality print cookbooks soon to be available, after many long months/years in development. Here is one!" ?
Donna Haney, Social Media and Affiliate Coordinator, Instant Pot®

"
The Instant Pot® Electric Pressure Cooker Cookbook is packed with 100+ recipes all exclusively designed for the Instant Pot. If you were one of the lucky ones who bought an Instant Pot (aka IP) on Prime Day in July, like I did, congratulations. If you found, after taking it out of the box, that it's a little intimidating, join the club. There is definitely a learning curve with the IP but so worth the effort. I immediately went on the hunt for recipes to try and downloaded a bunch of *free* Instant Pot cookbooks. Let the buyer beware, *free* does not equal *good* - many of those books are poorly edited/translated and have serious errors.

This is an 'official' Instant Pot cookbook and a very good one. I was warned that unless there is a picture of a real IP on the cover (copyright) it is not sanctioned by Instant Pot - this one is an official cookbook but it's so much more than just recipes. I usually purchase my books for Kindle (and there is an e-book version) but this one I bought in soft-back. For the price, under $10, it is definitely a must buy.

This cookbook has everything you need to know to use your Instant Pot. The beginning of the book is an introduction to the Instant Pot, to pressure cooking and how to care for your pot. Even though a lot of this information may be found in the Instant Pot manual, the manual (which comes with the IP) is in 2 languages and, I think, is difficult to read.

The middle of the book has recipes. Some recipes are more involved but many are recipes for cooking basic things (like Chicken Wings) which a newbie like me wanted to learn. Even after cooking for the better part of 45 years, figuring out the settings and times for cooking in the IP makes me feel like a novice. I made the chicken wings this weekend and, from frozen, were fast and delicious. There are recipes for soups, meats, and desserts.

The end of the book has the cooking charts for meats, veggies and grains. The index makes it easy to find exactly what you are looking for (like those wings). I highly recommend this book, it has been the best purchase I made since getting my Instant Pot.

I've bought a few IP/Pressure cooker cookbooks and this is by far my favorite one. I almost didn't buy it because some of the reviews said that the recipes were weird and there were only a few things in the whole book that the reviewer might make. I'm so glad I did and I feel so bad for people who I assume must only eat chicken wings and pot roasts, there are so many other things that the Instant Pot can do and this book does a great job of covering the broad spectrum and has plenty of common staples. Not only that but it's geared towards people like me who aren't the best chefs and are often in a hurry. I've made about a dozen or so of the recipes so far and every single one has been great. Many of the recipes are pretty easy to just leave out the meat too if you're cooking for non-meat eaters, or to sub in a different kind of meat if you're trying to eat a little healthier.

Another great thing about this book is that it serves as a much better instruction manual than the one that comes with the Instant Pot. It does a great job of helping you conquer the learning curve if you're not used to pressure cookers.

I do have two complaints - 1) There are no pictures of the dishes! I'd love some artwork accompanying the recipes so I know what the end result is going to be. 2) The time estimates are way off. I've found this to be true with all of the IP/Pressure Cooker cookbooks. Prep time is often 2-3 times what the author says. I'm guessing this is because they're a much more experienced chef than me and have a much bigger kitchen, but I also get the impression I'm pretty close to their target audience and that people who know more about cooking wouldn't need these estimates in the first place. The recipes could also do a better job of reflecting the actual amount of time that things take to cook. If I cook something under pressure for 5 minutes but it takes 15 minutes to get up to pressure and then has to do a natural pressure release for 35 minutes that should be included in the "total time" listed for the recipe. This seems to be a common trend with recipes in other books or that I find online. Now I've cooked enough that I know what to expect by reading the directions, but when I was starting out it was frustrating. New cooks - don't cook your first several meals while you're in a hurry, expect a bit of a learning curve and some delays.

I purchased 2 cookbooks for the Instant Pot (IP). This one includes a chapter with information on the benefits of pressure cooking, step-by-step electric pressure cooking, how to use the IP, safety tips, converting your recipes, and cleaning and care of the pressure cooker. There are also 9 pages of charts about cooking times and such in the back of the book. The recipes in this book state the prep time and cook time separately; this makes it easier to see at a glance the time needed for each. The total cook time is also stated and includes the time required for the pot to come to pressure (pre-heat), and the time needed to de-pressurize. This is especially helpful when you are in a hurry and need to know at a glance how much time the whole recipe will require. The first page of each chapter lists all the recipes in that category, and there is an index of recipes in the back of the book.

My only issue with this cookbook is the limited number of recipes (111 recipes) and most of the recipes are not ones that appeal to my family. However, this is a good cookbook for the first time IP user, which I was. I would just suggest also purchasing another cookbook with more recipes to choose from such as my second purchase, Instant Pot Cookbook 550 recipes for Every Day by Michelle Sanders. I find the two of these together to be the perfect combination.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Instant Pot Recipe Book
Reviewed in Canada on June 15, 2022
I love this cookbook. I have bought 3 copies so far, one for myself, one for my son and another for a friend that hasn't been able to get her pot out of the box.

I have make a lot of these recipes and have not had any fails. Some of these are:
1. Apple and Cinnamon Oatmeat I regularly make this for my daughter and myself with the suggested added walnuts and we both think it is very tasty
2, Quick Zucchini Ratatouille I quite often use the cherry tomatoes that have been sitting in my fridge for a while
3. Braised cabbage with onion instead of bacon as part of my family is vegetarian
4. Root Vegetable Medley I have made this with other root vegetables as well so it is a good way to clean out your fridge.
5. Brown Butter and Asparagus Risotto I liked this better than Jeffrey Eisner's Lemon Asparagus Risotto
6. The soup recipes are outstanding and part of my regular meal planning, Creamy Cauliflower and Potato Soup, Thai Style Corn Chowder, Creamy Broccoli and Leek Soup
7. Tuscan Chicken Stew Sunday Pot Roast are excellent family meals
8. If you want to impress guest the Low Country Boil is great and Shrimp Scampi makes a romantic dinner for two
9. The Lime Cheesecake is also easy and tasty

I have also bought her dessert cookbook and her second instant book cook. However this one is my favourite.

I found this recipe book very helpful when getting started with my Instant Pot (which I love!) In the absence of any UK recipe book to help out It would have been useful for a glossary of US/UK terms to have been included, but a quick search on the internet usually provides the answer. I’ve tried several recipes and found they work well and the suggested timings for various foods is particularly helpful. I found the Key Lime Pie intriguing, so tried it - and it works! Boston Butt pork referred to in the Pulled Pork recipe is, I'm reliably informed, called a Hand and Spring here, but any self respecting butcher should know what a Boston Butt cut is in the UK!
