This 58mm threaded Tulip shaped lens hood is sold on Amazon.com under several brands by many different vendors. It is designed for cameras with NON-rotating 58mm filter threads, such as my Canon S5 with its Sakar Digital Concepts 58mm lens adapter.

It is designed for wide angle and zoom lenses that are 35mm wide or 40mm wide. If you use it with a 24mm or 28mm wide lens, you are likely to see a bit of the hood in the corner of your photos. With my 36mm lens, it worked perfectly, even at the widest settings.

The hood WILL cast a shadow with flash photos, so rotate the hood so that a small petal is at 12 o'clock or remove it for flash photos.

Mounting the hood requires threading it onto your filter mount, then centering the white triangle on the hood to the 12 o'clock position, then rotating the locking wheel until the hood locks into proper position. This takes several minutes to do. I intend to keep the hood on my camera permanently, so I only have to bother with the mounting process once. My 58mm lens cap snaps securely into the throat of the hood.

I was getting some lens flare on outdoor photos with my stock lens, so I picked up this hood. Fixed the problem, but be aware that you need to lock the "fat" parts of the lens at 12 and 6 o'clock. I forgot this when letting my parents use my camera at graduation, and I got some clipping in my shots at the 3 and 8 o'clock corners. Other than that, my lens flare problem is fixed! Now to get one for my 50.

Works like a tulip lens hood should. Please do note that many lens hoods can be installed backwards when not in use so that they are accessible but out of the way - This one however does NOT do that (not that it said it did). My lens cap also fits perfectly into the center of the hood to protect my glass when the camera is not in use with the hood installed.

What the hell am I griping about? I only paid $0.43. Get one!

Like the other reviewer said, its crops/vignette's at wide angles under 35mm. Not bad for the money. Hood can become cumbersome to remove and install between use and storage. Since I leave the hood on, this isn't a problem. You may want to pay more for quick release hoods specific to your lens if easy removal is a concern. Considering I paid under 5$ and the Canon models are about 25$-I'm ok with the trade off.

Works as it says. Did a test with my video camera and gave less glare. I'm using it to attach to my Canon small videocamera rig. it is attached to a step-up ring. It can only go in the treading at a certain point after that I use the screw mount on the Hood to lock it into place. Look for my user pics K.R.

I just received my 58mm lens hood and I'm impressed! The product is of "good" quality hard plastic and the treads will fit almost any 58mm lens as advertised. I own a Fuji Finepix HS25 and I was nervous at first because I hadn't bought any after market products that fit my particular camera. However, I contacted Fuji's customer service and was assured that most 58mm threaded products should work fine. Armed with that information I "rushed" to purchase this lens hood. The seller paid the shipping cost so I was able to purchase it for literally "free" at under $3 US dollars!

For you technical guys..no it's not a reversible hood but you shouldn't have your hood turn backwards anyway! I understand the convenience issue for a hood with reversed threading but for less than $2 bucks it's simply a "great" way to save your expensive lens. So, I highly recommend this product and thanks to the seller for making photography "fun" not expensive!

When you try and tighten this tulip lens hood you can't get it very tight and if bumped firmly it will pop off. Remember too...only use this type of hood on a lens barrel that doesn't rotate too much at the hood end because you get some shadows. My canon stock 18-55 5.6 lens can't be used with this hood because it needs to have the small pedals in the horizontal position otherwise you get a dark shadow on the edge of your image. Because the lens rotates at the end you can't keep the hood in the correct position. Solution? By a uniform hood that doesn't stick out more than 1/2 or so. Hope that helps.

Great and great price. Hard plastic hood fits great on my 58mm lens. Found out the hard way these hoods are needed in the summer months with lost of sun. You won't have those sun spots you get without one. Went to TN took lots of pics and most all had those spots.. so great product. Again, bought me one and my best friend.
