One tiny drawback would be that it uses a single PCB board, meaning slots above the board are inserted normally (contacts facing down) while slots underneath are inserted upside-down (contacts facing up). Luckily, only the Sony memory sticks are inserted that way, no offense Sony.
Its been about two months now and the product is still going strong. I have switched this thing between various computers at home and it works beautifully on all of them as plug-and-play. It measures 2.75 x 1.5 inches so its pretty small. Its very lightweight so one would have to grab the whole thing while inserting a memory card or else it would just slide on your table. If you are wondering, you cannot insert two memory cards at the same time - it wont be recognized. For the price, this is an excellent no frills, do-its-job external card reader. +1 satisfied customer.
UPDATE 2 *******
I have been using this for 8 months now. The SD card slot is starting to loose connectivity from time to time. Brings me back to the old days of Nintendo console where I insert, eject, and insert the cartidge (SD card in this case) to get it to work. I typically handle all my computer gadgets with care...this is a bit unfortunate since this is (was) a good deal on a good performing product. Down to 4 stars.
UPDATE: A year later, alas the reader bit the dust, taking my new 16GB Class 4 microSD card with it (or perhaps a defective card did the reader in, hard to say). I'm not sure if simply deleting files via this reader shortens its lifespan, but this is not much of a card WRITER. Do not partition and re-format cards via this, nor convert music files etc. to folders on reader-ensconced cards as if they are external hard drives. Not up to the task.
Its a great concept and worked well when I first used it. Also the picture does not match the actual product. My card reader was a clear case with a purple tint, not black light originally expected. Also the quality is very low and plastic is very fragile.

Broke the fist time I used it. It had a bad solder on the inside. I did not try to return. Not worth shipping charge. Just as cheap to buy another.Published 7 months ago by ASAP
It died on me under a year and only used a SD card with it less than 15 times.Published 19 months ago by J. Craig
