I bought this 3 months ago and I plugged my GPS, my FM transmitter, and my Ipods charger in all at the same time. I was sketchy on getting this because everyone said it blew a fuse but that never happened with me. Maybe you just can't have too many things using power. Your lighter outlet is only made for a certain amount of watts. Like an electrical outlet, if you have too many things plugged in, it's going to blow a fuse. So you can't be upset at the product. Cigarette lighters are meant to run small things.

Another plus for me is that it sticks out since the cigarette lighter in my 90 New Yorker is a little pushed back.

UPDATE:

After having it for about a year now it still works fine!

This worked very well, until one day I had three things plugged in and running at once (that's the point, right?) and I started to smell something burning/melting. I quickly pulled it out, and smoke was emitting from its end. Now it's worthless.

I used it and was super happy with it.
However, a couple of days from receiving it and using it, it broke.
It doesn't work.
To be fair I haven't contacted the vendor I purchased it from because I'm too busy!
So just be careful.

This had internal meltdown the first time I used it! I only had one item plugged in, a small single bulb amber flashing light. The light works fine plugged into the accessory socket directly and the light does not use a lot of current. I don't remember the amperage but I bought it for it's low energy requirement. First time I use the 3 way with this one item and it melts all the internal metal parts into a glob of gooey plastic.
What this tells me is that the metal components are not made of enough quality as it had fatal meltdown before it's own fuse blew! I believe the fuse finally blew because the metal parts came into contact with each other, not because of current draw. I dissected this item and was shocked at the failure and how poorly it was made. But in all fairness, what do you expect for the price? Once again; you get what you pay for.

This socket splitter adds to my need for additional car power to my items such as a navigation device, charging a telephone, etc. It is convenient, not only for the amount of outlets, but for its canted shape and its socket emplacement. I highly recommend this device to those who have the problem of charging more than one device when traveling.

The construction is pretty good and it has an LED light to show when it's connected, but the center socket has thermal insulation implying that it's possible to use higher current which is not likely. The internal fuse prevents that and the wire passing through the swivel joint is small AWG. I like the hard-wire connection though as opposed to a slip ring which could become loose or corrode. Don't expect to run a soda can cooler or boom-box without getting a bigger fuse. Most usb chargers with 12 volt plugs already have their own fuse protection so I can't see why they'd put a tiny fuse and wire in such a beefy plug unless there are other issues that demand it.
