Ryan and CK, friends since college, make a deal - he will teach her how to become desirable to men so she can snag a husband and keep her family's business (as detailed in her great-grandfather's will) and she will give him $250,000 for his efforts.
Okay, so, yeah. Cheesy plot. But that's okay. I just go with the flow with these kind of things - and it was cute in the beginning. I absolutely adore CK's grandfather and his butler. Hilarious secondary characters. But then it just all got too rushed. Ryan buys her a couple of dresses and introduces her to his friends and that's pretty much the extent of what he did to earn his $250,000. His friends talk to Ryan about what a great person CK is but, truthfully, her character was never fully developed enough for me to either agree or disagree with that assessment.
Overall, shallow characterizations and a rushed story line. Nothing too very special about it that would make it stand out from the crowd, but it wasn't awful, either. Recommended for when you're looking for a light read that won't tax your emotions or your brain cells.
Adult language and limited, but explicit, sexual content.
I was very curious about Ajax and his decision to wear Jimmy Choos and the hat and purse in front of his very alpha-male friends. Seemed a bit arbitrary and unexplained. But it added humor to the scene.
I would recommend the book to anyone who wanted a fun book to escape with for a while.
Ryan thought that the idea was idiotic and said NO in the beginning but finally said yes when CK offered him $250K as a bonus if she got engaged within 30 days. And whatever Ryan was teaching CK was working because she was catching the attention of eligible men. Only problem is that Ryan was also feeling an attraction to his "creation". Can their friendship survive this lust-filled month?
With the heroine's name as CK, my first thought was Calvin Klein; after finishing the book, I concluded CK was an apt name for the heroine. Because like Calvin Klein clothes famous for its modern and architectural silhouettes lies a sensuality and sexiness that just simmer under the surface; CK Kazner, though always donned in shapeless suits is a beautiful and sexy woman waiting to get out. And it will take her best friend Ryan to cajole her to come out.
A beautiful romantic comedy that will give you a barrel of laughs from beginning to end. And as an added bonus, the sex scene sizzles!
Rated PG 15 due to sex.
I really really liked this funny, sweet story. CK was such a strong businesswoman. She had been given quite the nickname when it came to her business dealings. Clever, smart and creative but when it came to men, she was totally clueless. And why not? She never had time for anything else BUT business. She was shy and hid herself. But she wasn't the only one that was clueless when it came to her friendship with Ryan. As smart as he was about business and people (women especially) he was kind of clueless about his feelings for CK. It was also fun to watch CK come out of the shell she has hidden in and begin to become a "woman, hear me roar" when it comes to changing her apperance. I liked how the story ended and there was no cliffhanger. It was a fun read with just a few sex scenes that weren't over the top detailed. At the end of the book, there is an Excerpt of "Deceiving an Heiress".
By the Way...CK's real name? Now I know why she went with just her initials!!!
