Product Description

E8600 LGA775 3.33G 6MB 45NM CHIP1333MHZ BOXED Processor

From the Manufacturer

The Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 brings two computing cores running at 3.33 GHz onto a single processor, giving mainstream users that extra horsepower to ensure that their computing experience won't slow down even when running multiple applications simultaneously. The processor uses the LGA775 socket for compatibility with many motherboards and features 6 MB of L2 cache and a 1333 MHz front side bus.

With two computing cores, you'll experience great performance.

Intel's Intelligent Power Capability ensures optimal energy efficiency.
Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 Processor features:

  • Two computing cores running at 3.33 GHz.
  • 6 MB of L2 cache.
  • 1333 MHz front side bus.
  • Advanced technologies for better energy efficiency.

Two Cores on One Chip Deliver Increased Processor Performance
By using two processing cores, the E8600 can deliver higher performance with greater energy efficiency than older single-core processors. The E8600 brings robust performance for both home and business software applications, and users will be able to run more applications simultaneously with less stuttering and slowdown.

Everything including email, downloading, online shopping, and video editing can be done simultaneously and with greater efficiency. No longer is it necessary to choose between work and play--with the E8600 you have it both ways at the same time.

New Technologies Provide Higher Performance and Better Energy Efficiency
By using hafnium, a naturally occurring element, Intel engineers were able to shrink the size of new Intel processors and pack more computing technology into less space. The processor also features Intel's Intelligent Power Capability, which allows it to turn off parts of itself when it isn't in use. The result is improved performance with less energy wastage and a reduction of heat and noise, making the processor easier on your wallet and easier on the environment.

Intel has packed the Core 2 Duo E8600 with cutting-edge technologies for better performance. Wide Dynamic Execution allows the processor to do more tasks simultaneously by enabling the delivery of more instructions per clock cycle, while Advanced Smart Cache technology improves performance by physically placing data closer to the processing cores. And Smart Memory Access, which increases available data bandwidth, means you'll experience less slowdown while multi-tasking, so you can get more done.

Multimedia Acceleration for Faster Content Creation
If you are editing HD video, manipulating professional grade photos, or working with music, the E8600 will let your computer keep up with your imagination. The processor features Intel's Advanced Digital Media Boost for accelerating performance of a wide range of applications including video, gaming, speech and image, and photo processing among others. Additionally, Intel's HD Boost technology further improves the performance of SSE4-optimized applications, such as video editing and encoding in high definition.

The Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 allows for a quieter, more energy-efficient PC while still maintaining a high level of performance. It it backed by a three-year warranty.

Before buying the E8600 processor, I was torn between the E8400 (3.0Ghz), E8500 (3.16 Ghz) & E8600 (3.33 Ghz) processors. The 8600 is priced considerably higher than the 8400 and 8500 for only a minor boost in speed. Either processor will provide oustanding performance. In my case, I own a 680i SLI board that is not compatible with Yorkfield Quad Core processors. This Wolfdale 8600 is truly the maximum baseline performance processor that I can put into my system, so I felt I should go with the higher 3.33 Ghz for more "stable" overclocking potential.

** Overclocking is generally not recommended due to the potential to damage the components; Safe overclocking is possible with the right hardware, the right expertise, the right voltages, the right cooling and the right guidance **

If you do not overclock your PC, then the E8500 or E8400 will give you the most bang for your buck. If you DO overclock your PC, the E8500 or E8400 will still give you them most bang for your buck. Any of the these 3 processors will overclock nicely. For a little extra $$$, you can get this E8600 and have a higher "starting point" of 3.33 Ghz at 1333FSB. In my case, I run a 680i board with a maximum declared FSB of 1600Mhz. I also run 8 Gigs of Hyper X DDR2 at 800Mhz. Doing the Math, I found that I can adjust my FSB Overclock to a flat 400Mhz, giving me a resulting 1600FSB at a 1:1 Memory Ratio, giving me a Solid 4.0GHZ for CPU!!

Here is the math in case you were wondering...
- default settings = 333Mhz CPU X 10x Multiplier = 3.33Ghz..... 333Mhz X 4 (quad pumped FSB) = 1333Mhz
- my Settings = 400Mhz CPU x 10x Multiplier = 4.0 Ghz..... 400Mhz X 4 (quad pumped FSB) = 1600Mhz

I have no intention to go beyond the 4.0Ghz specification, since 4Ghz is plenty fast for my needs.

It's so easy to get this thing to 4ghz without changing the voltage at all. Just set FSB to 400mhz. It doesn't start getting hot at all till you go over that. I have mine at 4.5ghz (450x10 1.41volts)) and it idles under 38C, and stress tests max 65C on air. (Zalman 9700 in an Antec 900 case).

Vista 64 is snappy and games play real smooth. Load times for everything are quick.

I have ordered CPU's from Eagle_Eye before. This E8600 was used to upgrade a home pc. When looking for a reliable and economical part, like this Intel processor, the price and selection are very competitive. I chose this particular CPU due to its operational compatibility for the pc without excessive cost or adverse performance - perceptible and better.

I'm currently using this CPU on the computer I am writing this review on. It breathed new life into my old motherboard. Now I can actually play more modern games. Nice to be able to upgrade to a dual core processor for such a reasonable price. The chip came well packaged in nice anti-static packaging with foam to make sure it traveled safe. It came clear of heat sink compound and installed easily.

Personally, I think this is the best Core 2 Duo CPU out there. I only upgraded to the Core 2 Quad for better gaming performance.

If you plan to surf the web, watch Youtube videos, Facebook etc, this CPU can still do that.

I upgraded an older Dell machine (which originally had a Pentium dual-core CPU) with this puppy, along with other hardware upgrades (more memory, 2nd hard drive, DVI video card. Kit came with everything I needed for the installation, including the thermal paste, an anti-static wrist strap, and clear instructions. The upgrade process went without a hitch and the system has been running with this new processor for six months, no issues.

Company stands by Warranty and are serious about quality and reliablilty. I loved the personal letter that the Owner of the company wrote me thanking me for my purchase and would stand by me if I needed a replacement! You don't see that very often in today's world.

Worked as expected, very quick delivery. The CPU is OEM so there was no cooler included BUT Digiconcepts did include thermal compound and a chempad so I could clean my stock cooler/fan and use it with this processor. Very affordable, the price I paid for a new E8600 at Digiconcepts was nowhere near as high as other sellers' prices.
