It cured being disconnected and added a stronger connection to my wifi network

This worked for my Asus x54c laptop. The original wifi card was always un-connecting from the Wifi signal, bad hardware, and firmware. I was tired of it, and read this can be replaced, assuming you get the wifi card that will work with your bios. I found this, and I also found the driver download package. You should download the Intel pro driver package in a USB stick, so once you install the wifi card,you can just pull the drivers from your usb stick.

This $9 fix Should be one of the TOP of your upgrades to your laptop. Along with your converting to SSD, adding RAM, Change your wifi card too.

This added more bars, about 2 compared to my original wifi card on the laptop. Also, Intel has a feature to turn on some advance option, adding 2.4 to 2.4 and 5.2 bands. This added more bars, for some reason, it reached my router upstairs with a stronger connection.

It cured being disconnected and added a stronger connection.

I purchased Intel 5300 then realized it has 3 antenas. so I am going to return it when it arrived. My asus n61j only has 2 antenas. So i purchased the Intel 6200 because of 2 antenas and its speed would be 300mbps. Atheros ar9285 that came with asus stucked at 65mbps, never went up or came down. I tried so many times correct my router but still won't improve the speed. However, It never gave me any problems. Connecting to internet never an issue. speed was fast but for some $$ to get intel 6200 for double speed why not?. so i decided to give Intel 6200 a trial. although speed is only 150Mbps, i still gave it a five stars because it was incredible easy to install and i got it to work in less than 10 minutes.
Opened the back of asus, pop-up two antena, unscrewed 2 screws, installed intel 6200, turned on asus. It recognized intel 6200. I download it. It said unable to finish intallation. I believe reason it said that is because it could not connect to secured wifi internet which mine is requiring passcode. Ignore it. just search for wifi addresses (the same way when you are away from home and try to search for wifi)it found mine. After enter my password, it was connected. I checked Network Adapters under device manager, and found the intel 6200 but the atheros ar9285 is gone which it was suppose to. Although the intel 6200 gives me only 150Mbps it is fast. And bc i use the 5ghz, it should be more stable than 2.4 GHz. I know it is going to go higher after i update the driver. It deserves a 5 stars when this product was ease to install, and painless to get it to work. I dicided to write reviews because I have luck getting products based on other people's review. For those who write review should include all products model # and basic installation instruction to be more helpful to others who have same products. so now those who own asus n61jq won't not have any second thought of this product bc it worked for me.

Good wifi card

My stock Asus comes with some 3rd rate wifi card. It has trouble seeing my wifi-N channel, only the 802.11 b/g one. Transfer rate is not that great either. So I swapped it with the this one. Just install the drive and it worked like a charm. Strong reception and reliable connection.

UPDATE:
However, on my new ENVY 17t-2000 model laptop, it came with the same model of wireless module. I have been experiencing constant crash/freezes. It happens when I tried to download file from the net and transferring file between my laptop and my NAS. I tried updating the BIOS, drivers, re-install drivers to no avail. When I disabled the wireless module and go hard wire, everything is good. Now, my laptop won't even start. Says "Wireless module not Support....The system has detected a wireless module installed in the system that is not supported. System halted. Please remove device and restart....WLAN module id (0702)" I am going through HP support right now. Will update once more information is learned.

UPDATE II:
Got my Envy17 back from HP for repair. They repaired/replaced the logic board. Seems like the issue is not with the wifi card itself. I have confirmed this prior to sending it to HP by inserting several other wifi cards and they all show the same error message. As such, I have updated my rating to 5.

So I got a brand new laptop a few years ago, and when I would play online games, sometimes it would stutter and I could tell it was the internet connection. I was only 1 room away from my excellent router, and I began to wonder how much it would cost to get a better wireless internal card. This thing was only $29 and at the time, was the most advanced available. what a huge difference! Now I can do anything on my laptop and I honestly cannot tell the difference between this card's connection and a direct ethernet connection. Well worth the money, and not difficult to install.

I ordered this for my Asus N53SV whose wifi card broke down.

The Intel card works amazing. I get much faster speeds than the original card and it seems to connect faster.

In windows (windows 7) the card was not initially recognized. Had to download the drivers on my phone and transfer them over.
In Linux (Ubuntu 13.10) the card was automatically recognized and everything worked out of the box. Moreover, in Linux, the connection is stable (many wifi cards have issues with constantly disconnecting under Linux, but not this one)
