A quad-core Pentium?? Well dual-core with hyper threading. But this thing is great. Used for a basic build that will be used for light photo editing and college work, this thing does the job efficiently and stays cool. 3.6GHz is plenty for the user, and on a B250 motherboard, I can install a faster processor if needed. For $90 at the time, this is a steal. Don't even bother looking at the Kaby Lake i3's. It's either this, or the i5 7400. I had originally planned on getting the G4560, but the 4600 was cheaper at the time so why not. 0.1 higher clock with better integrated graphics is a no brainer. I installed it in a Asus Strix B250i ITX motherboard, paired with an SSD, this thing is as fast as my 6700K in basic tasks. I think it would do fine for a 1080p gaming build as well. But once you get into 1440p or higher refreshes than 60Hz, you may want a chip with more physical cores in order to keep up with the GPU.
Overall, no issues with this CPU. As everyone knows, the stock Intel cooler is loud and ugly, but it does work. You can always get another cooler, and it does not have to be a beefy one because this chip is low power anyway! I plan on using this in another build I have coming up, a 1080p gaming build for a client on a budget.
