I used this i5 processor in my PC I built in 2012. One year later, here is my review.

So far this little devil still plows through everything I throw at it. windows 7/8.1 run flawlessly. In windows 7 at Idle would only run about 4-7% of the processor even searching through web or youtube on 1080p I would be usually less than 50%. The i5, is the perfect balance between cost, performance and efficiency for what most people would need to accomplish in a normal day to day setting. I have been able to run Crysis on this PC and with my 32 inch monitor, the processor does everything I could ask ad still has enough power for more.

Pro : Powerful, efficient, great performance, heat output, comes with its own heat sync

Con: slightly more costly than AMD

    Pros:
Four real cores rather than dual core with hyperthreading. It doesn't make much different for me now, but I like knowing I have it.
Fast. Calculates 8 million digits of pi using Super Pi in 2 minutes and a few seconds.
Runs cool with the stock heatsink. CoreTemp gives the hottest core at 28 C at idle and 58 C under gaming load.
Reasonable price. Amazon had it for less than the slower I5 3450.

    Cons:
Locked multiplier. I wasn't willing to pay extra for an Z77 motherboard to enable overclocking compared to H77, but this matters to some.
Integrated graphics. I didn't try it. This won't matter if you have a dedicated graphics card or don't game.

Buy this processor as I wanted to build two desktop pc, one for the living room and one for the playroom eventually this processor is for living, not complaining about it and not saying it's bad for the game, but I prefer an i7 for gaming, and more if its completion is in K since it is more stable for OC, this processor has excellent performance, there is an average difference of 2 nd generation east of the 3, if you want to build a pc the 3 B, good, nice and cheap, I recommend this processor, excuse my English I have not done the course XD

I'll start off by saying what I do with the CPU over the past year.

-I play demanding games like BF4.
    -I like to program
    -I have two monitors
-I like to be an amateur video and image editor

Those are some of the uses I use the i5 for. The CPU has never let me down and temperatures never hit above 65 degrees on the stock cooler. By the way, with the 3470, DO NOT get a different cooler because it will go to waste as the temperatures are more then comfortable. The reason I have 4 stars is because I wish I went with a i7 and went with the unlocked K kind. I like overclocking and this CPU can't do any of that. My next CPU will be an i7 for sure. If you are a power user like me, do yourself a favor and just spend the extra 100 bucks to get a i7. Otherwise, this CPU is perfect for practically everyone and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a mid-range CPU with decent specs.

For me it's the best 3rd generation Intel Core i5 out in the market. The price was incredible back when I bought it: $194.25 . The performance is just excellent, it keeps my gaming PC running perfectly with as many tasks as I can like browsing internet while editing in Adobe Premiere, then opening up the casual game or Skype, then notepad and word. I do have a nice RAM to back me up, but generally I don't see the CPU get stressed or anything. Wonderful product, and back then the best price ever :D.

I was looking to upgrade my AMD 4 years old PC but I needed something that would not generate a lot of heat due to where the PC is placed and it's air circulation. I've been an AMD user for a really long time but I opted for Intel since my reviews did lead me to believe this would work out for me.This processor has proven to be the best for me since although I have seen an incredible upgrade on performance the overall temperature on the case is below 90 degrees F. The new build is using a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H along with Cooler Master Hyper TX3 and a video card EVGA GeForce GTX 660 SUPERCLOCKED. I would recommend this ever single day.

Absolutely a beast for the price. I payed about 200 almost 3 years ago paired with a MSI GTX 770 2gb and recently replaced 770 for the msi 1070 aero and this cpu is still performing just as it did 3 years ago. It runs most any game I play at 60fps with my 1070. 3years and I'm just now thinking about getting the new 8thgen i5s but not because this one's dieing because it has yet to have ever disappointed me.

    PentiumG645(2コア)からの換装だったので5割増しの体感
    Pass Mark
