While this wasn't my first choice of processors to purchase, it did fit into my budget.

This is a great processor for a budget build. I keeps up well with pretty much everything I throw at it. I usually will be browsing the web while playing a game and listening to music. This processor has no problem keeping up.

I did notice some stuttering last night while working but everything I was doing was pretty processor intensive. Playing a flash game on the web, playing a popular MMO, encoding a movie, listening to music all at the same time. This caused some frame stutters in the MMO I was playing. Other than that I have not had any issues with this processor.

I would recommend it for a budget build. However, if your budget can handle it, and you are a "power user", I would suggest going for an i5, quad core, or better. For browsing the internet, casual gaming, email, etc. This is a great processor.

I purchased this because I wanted to use video capture hardware that (1) Only has drivers for Windows XP and (2) uses software that is strictly single-threaded. The capture card in question is an ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder from about 2004 (it has superior analog video capture compared to any new products available).

I'm actually finding that I'm using the machine with this Pentium CPU in it as a second desktop because, honestly, it does day-to-day tasks just as well as my AMD 6-core machine. Heavy multi-threaded applications (such as video encoding on Handbrake) are obviously much slower, but for a sub-$100 CPU this thing is fantastic! Would be great if you're building a basic machine for parents/grandparents or the casual PC user.
