Taking the laptop apart was the longest part. Once I got to the card, it was a breeze to replace. Just carefully pop off the two antenna wires and then the two screws.The old board slowly sprang up and lifted out of the socket easily. Putting in was the reverse. This was a piece of cake and resolved my intermittent network connectivity and other various errors. I have replaced this card on two different laptops with excellent results. Update: It only lasted about 1 1/2 years. I started having problems back in November 2015. I haven't been able to use the laptop, so now I'm ordering another. I'm glad they are cheap, but they don't last long. On my laptop it is in a location that does not get warm, plus I always keep my laptop on a laptop cooler with dual fans so there isn't an over-heating issue. I got my replacement in and somehow, the product changed between my last order and this new order. Although it fits in my laptop and looks almost identical, my laptop won't boot telling me I have an incompatible network card, please remove it. I'm going to contact the seller. I bought this wireless card for my HP Pavilion Dv5T laptop. My network adapter failed me while I was at college, so I needed something new and reliable. It was hard to find this kind, because supposedly HP doesn't manufacture them anymore. Anyway, when I opened my laptop to install it, I found my old adapter was longer than this one, and was held in with a screw. This one I bought was a lot shorter, as the picture shows, and so connecting the antennae wires was a bit challenging, but it ended up working just fine. I wasn't able to screw it in either, but I made it as secure as possible. I turned on my computer and have been surfing the web ever since! So even though the installation was sketchy, it works like a charm. Great product so far.

Word of caution, I ordered this WiFi network adapter only to find out that the BIOS on my laptop has a whitelist and does not allow you to install just any network adapter (HP laptop.) The product was as it was described and is new. Since I was unable to use it due to my pc's BIOS restrictions I can not comment on how well it works.

Great produc but caution if your laptop has a full size slot

Price and Quality. I install it on my Dell Latitude D820. Speed increased to 270 Mbps at near proximity of the router. There is one caution: The Dell had a DW 1390 WLAN installed (about 2" long) the Intel 5100 is just a mini size (about 1" long). It was necessary to find a way to keep it in place I used a piece of plastic across to hold it down. The card works great.

I bought it to replace a failing Broadcom device.
I was skepticle at first because I had a problem with a driver in the configuration program but my OS sorted it out and haven't had a problem since. One thing to note is that the card is installed on an AMD mother board so if a person would install it on an Intel mother board I would think there should be no problems.

Great card, but not for hackentosh

This card is great!!! Came with my computer, i get about 50 megabits per second. However, it is not supported in hackentosh and i wish it was!!! Searched for hours, couldnt find any kexts. Oh well all in all a great card except for no hackentosh support.
