The Intel X25-M Mainstream 80 GB SATA solid-state drive provides faster disk performance and greater durability than traditional spinning platter drives. It stores data using 34 nm multi-level cell NAND flash memory. The internal SATA interface offers data throughput of up to 3.0 Gb/s. A downloadable Intel SSD Toolbox application helps you manage the health and optimize the performance of the drive. The X25-M is RoHS compliant and uses less power than traditional hard drives.
Intel X25-M Mainstream SATA Solid State Drive
Solid-State Storage for Efficient Operation
The X25-M uses flash memory for storage, giving you faster data access. Because it doesn't have spinning disks or writing heads, there are fewer parts to fail. It is less susceptible to vibration and runs silently. The X25-M is rated at 1.2 million hours mean time before failure.
Performs Faster with NAND Flash Memory
The drive's architecture uses ten parallel NAND flash channels equipped with 34 nm multi-level cell NAND flash memory. Native Command Queuing, which enables up to 32 simultaneous operations, helps the X25-M deliver sustained sequential read speeds of up to 250 MBps, sustained sequential write speeds of up to 70 MBps, and a read latency of 65 microseconds. Combined with the drive's SATA interface that offers data throughput of up to 3.0 Gb/s, this design means that applications launch quickly, files copy in less time, and overall computing power increases.
Optimize Performance with the Intel SSD Toolbox
Intel offers the Intel SSD Toolbox application with Intel SSD Optimizer to help you manage the health and performance of your drive. This set of management, information, and diagnostic tools includes Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology (SMART) commands. It is designed to run on Microsoft Windows 7 and is compatible with Microsoft Windows Vista and XP.
Easy Installation with Data Migration Software
Intel makes installing an SSD simple and painless by including necessary cables and providing a free software download for the Intel Data Migration Software. The Data Migration Software helps you migrate your data, applications, and operating system from your current drive to a new Intel Solid-State Drive with just a simple click. The Intel Data Migration Software supports Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, and XP.
Lower Power Consumption Reduces Environmental Impact
The X25-M consumes less power than traditional drives, which saves you money and makes this drive . When installed in a laptop, the X25-M provides better battery life. The drive is certified RoHS compliant for its use of non-hazardous materials.
The X25-M is backed by a three-year limited warranty.

I have no regrets in getting this drive. The first time using it, I immediately noticed the difference. Applications now launch instantly which is really nice.
Be sure you download and install the Intel SSD Toolbox after you get it installed to optimize it for your system. It doesn't come with the drive, just search for it on your favorite search engine.
While the Intel G3's are due out anytime there was a $30/drive rebate so I was able to snag two of these SSDs for $340. I made the decision to run these in a RAID0 array that, based on test results I saw online, should give me approximately G3 performance and I get an approx. 125GB drive (2x 80GB, less 20% unallocated space due to using SSDs in RAID configuration to prevent performance degradation due to loss of TRIM command from OS) for an affordable price, less than if I purchased a single larger G2 SSD and better specs.
I was tempted to go with OCZ but I'm not sure I like the idea of data compression the SandForce controllers use to obtain their levels of performance. I'll be using these in my workstation for OS and apps and going with Intel and their approach gave me more of a warm and fuzzy. When these drives are ready to be replaced the SandForce controllers will have more of a track record and there will likely be new tech out by then to choose from in any case, so who knows what I'll pick then ;)
These drives installed without a hitch, and they are smoking fast. All the good stuff you read about SSDs these are delivering. I'm running Win7prox64 on an ASUS Maximus Forumula Mobo with an Intel Q9450 and 8GB Corsair RAM. The Velociraptors I was using as my OS/apps drives were the bottleneck in my system performance. Well, my Windows Experience Score went from 5.9 to 7.3 and is now limited by my GPU (ATI 3870x2). Since I'm not a big gamer, mostly do web development and graphics work, this is good enough for now.
All to say, if you want rock solid SSDs at a great price this is a great buy.
best upgrade, greatly recommended.
I can't wait for the future when the cost of getting an SSD drive with a larger capacity isn't too prohibitive.
