Solid-State Storage for Efficient Operation

The X25-M uses flash memory for storage, giving you faster data access. Because it doesn't have spinning disks or writing heads, there are fewer parts to fail. It is less susceptible to vibration and runs silently. The X25-M is rated at 1.2 million hours mean time before failure.

The drive is designed for both notebook and desktop computers, and its 2.5-inch form factor will fit anywhere a regular 2.5-inch hard drive does. The X25-M also comes in 80 GB and 120 GB capacities.

Performs Faster with NAND Flash Memory

The X25-M drive's architecture uses 10 parallel NAND flash channels equipped with 34 nm multi-level cell NAND flash memory. Native Command Queuing, which enables up to 32 simultaneous operations, helps the X25-M deliver sustained sequential read speeds of up to 250 MB/s, sustained sequential write speeds of up to 100 MB/s, and a read latency of 65 microseconds. Combined with the drive's SATA interface that offers data throughput of up to 3.0 Gb/s, this design means that applications launch quickly, files copy in less time, and overall computing power increases.

Optimize Performance with the Intel SSD Toolbox

Intel offers the Intel SSD Toolbox application with Intel SSD Optimizer to help you manage the health and performance of your drive. This set of management, information, and diagnostic tools includes Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology (SMART) commands. It is designed to run on Microsoft Windows 7 and is compatible with Microsoft Windows Vista and XP.

Easy Installation with Data Migration Software

Intel makes installing an SSD simple and painless by including necessary cables and providing a free software download for the Intel Data Migration Software. The Data Migration Software helps you migrate your data, applications, and operating system from your current drive to a new Intel Solid-State Drive with just a simple click. The Intel Data Migration Software supports Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, and XP.

Lower Power Consumption Reduces Environmental Impact

The X25-M consumes less power than traditional drives, which saves you money. When installed in a laptop, the X25-M provides better battery life. The drive is certified RoHS compliant for its use of non-hazardous materials.

The X25-M is backed by a three-year limited warranty.

So... I have recommended these for a number of customers when the switch to W7. Especially if the had performance concerns before. In many cases if you look at the task manager in windows and see plenty of free memory and the CPU usage is below 80% it's disk bound. That means the OS is constantly waiting on data from the disk.

Highly recommended! While the absolute data rates on the Intels' may look slower because of the optimizations they feel faster. it's not max sequential speed that maters... it random small reads and writes. No one beats the Intel SSDs in that. I have tried many but still pay the extra 10% or so for the Intel.

One of my customers said it best... The computer becomes invisible and lets me work.

I replaced my boot hard drive with this unit, and it is much faster on boot up, plus it doesn't seem to cause the sporadic slow-downs that happened with my spinning hard drive. It's been working well for 2+ months now.

I have used this SSD in three different computers now and it worked amazingly in each one. I've had it in a 2009 MacBook Pro, 2010 MacBook Pro, and now a 2009 MacBook (which is actually a ModBook). I tested the boot times with each swap out and there is a huge difference, about 40 seconds. Programs load faster, files save faster. It is simply an awesome SSD. I'm not sure how the newer versions of this SSD compares. Other reviewers or websites can tell you about the differences in controllers, read/write technology, etc., but as far as I'm concerned, so long as it's an Intel SSD, probably won't be going wrong by buying one. It works and it's fast. Good enough for me.

Boot-up time is many times shorter. Shutdown time is also many times shorter. Application opens very fast too. I use this as OS drive on my desktop. The Acronis cloning software that came with it just works as stated on the installation procedure. Very smooth switching from my old HDD to the Intel SS drive. I'll purchase the SATA III when I am ready to upgrade my motherboard. Great product.
