Even then my only expectation was that it would prevent any CPU bottleneck for when I upgrade my graphics card beyond the GTX 1070 I owned now. I ran some benchmarks of the Batman Arkham games and the average fps for each at 1440p at max detail ( minus the interactive fog and debris for Arkham Knight) and this CPU raised the minimum framerates across the board. It turned out I was already bottlenecked and the 8600k alleviated it.
I should clarify that I was already able to achieve 70+ fps in these games before, but the streaming issues with the UE3 engine would cause many drops below 60 and occasionally in the 40's when gliding in the games at max detail especially Arkham Knight), which was disparaging for a GTX 1070. Even overclocking didn't work, and now I know it was due to the 4690k. Before, Arkham Knight used to dip into 50's and 40's when gliding over certain parts of the city and while driving. I just went over those areas again and those dips are gone ( I guess since the game was mostly optimized for the PS4, it preferred having more cores). I was actually struggling to find ways to lower the FPS outside of enabling more of the gameworks features. Certain stress points in the older games have also had less dips.
Lesson learned, even though a lot of sources may say the previous Intel quad-cores may be enough to give you a good amount of frames, the extra cores from the eighth gen can certainly raise the minimums.
This thing doesn't even break a sweat when running games on MAX in 3 digit FPS territory. Unless you have dual GTX Titans, you won't see the CPU being a bottleneck anytime soon.
I contacted Amazon's customer care as soon as I realized what I was holding in my hand and they immediately began processing a shipment of a new order at no charge and I should receive it tomorrow. I am reserving a higher star rating until I'm satisfied I have received what I paid for. Primarily, I just want to get the word out to double check your purchase before trying to force an installation of a likely incompatible device.

I found installing the processor a cinch, especially after watching a couple of demonstration videos on YouTube first.
The processor has a couple of notches in it which align to the processor slot on the motherboard perfectly. Just make sure you touch a radiator or some such to discharge any static before you handle it!
Lift the arm on the motherboard to raise the processor socket assembly, drop the processor in, and then bring the arm back down. A little plastic cover pops off as the assembky clicks into place over the processor.
The performance of this processor is great and more than adequate for gaming when paired with a decent graphics card. I installed a mini GTX 1050Ti and have found the set up for more than ample for most gaming needs. You can expect to play most games at medium to high settings depending on the demand of the game engine.
Overall very, very happy with this purchase and have found its performance excellent so far.
Please Note: This is for the processor ONLY, there is no stock cooler bundled with it. I bought a Coolermaster CPU cooler for about £30 which is virtually silent.
