May McGoldrick, Nik James, and Jan Coffey are pen names for USA Today bestselling authors Nikoo Kafi and Jim McGoldrick. Together, they have crafted over fifty fast-paced, conflict-filled historical, contemporary, and Western novels, and two works of nonfiction.

As i said in different reviews of some of these books about the Mac Phearsons, though i loved the brothers and their love stories, I cannot understand why the writer takes real historical characters and make them talk and do things, sometimes of doubtful reputation as if they were true facts. Though the author explains at the end of the book that some facts are made up, I feel it is not fair to portrait them as so evil without having the certainty they were as she depicts them. She even describes the king in bed with C. Howard, isn't that to much to guess?? She was unfaithful, ok, but was she that perverse??

I love historical romances. The author has a talent for weaving a rich story in this rather violent time period.

But the characters were a little too cliche. I couldn't get past 1/5 of it before I had to call it quits and put this in the "can't seem to finish" pile.

The H and the h are a bit too shallow. Lying in a recovery bed with barely anything to eat and really just after being forced back from the Pearly Gates only to find himself in the hands of his enemy, Scot or not, I really thought "sexy times" would be the last thing on Malcolm's mind. We're talking literally in the first few chapters. The h is beautiful, but she just betrayed him (he thinks). But, lo and behold, really the minute he wakes from feverish stupor he is ready to bed the h. While in the sick room, they had a conversation that went sort of like this, "Now that I'm so conveniently unattached and half naked, lets get it on, baby."

One moment he's cursing her out for betraying him, the next moment, all is forgiven.

The prologue led me astray. It was really the best part of the book. I really thought the h would have more character development and really, a lot more hatred in her imperfect heart. The author literally said something "died" in her the day her one true love married another, but the next minute she's making out with the H. That's where the author lost me.

She's in a precarious political situation with her relatives, and she's is intelligent enough to know how to maneuver around people. She's wise enough to blame herself for her own past follies, and progressive enough to understand that rank does not necessarily define a person's worth. But a stronger heroine would not be kissing the man who killed her childhood dreams quite so quickly. If anything, she should have been a little more wary of him, and her political surroundings and understood that making out with him would not be top priority behind enemy lines.

History is well and good, which should be studied in school but for me 12 years of school was enough as I am into a book for romance. It was a lot of romance the fight that this couple had to overcome was enormous. The book had the couple fighting tooth and nail and also had a lot of angst. Such evil villains that seemed to never die as the villains were almost superhuman in capability! Still such a good tale to read!

I am truly in love with May McGoldrick novels right now. I have read 8 in the last three months starting with the Angel of Skye in the MacPherson Clan Series. Each novel is a stand alone but I think it would be helpful to read them in order because so many of her characters are woven into other stories in the series. I get so caught up in the stories that I think about the characters even when I have to put the book down. They have made me laugh and cry. Truly the mark of a great book. The only thing I would mention in this book is there are a number of sexual scenes and not only between the hero and heroine which was different from her other books.

Not overly proseful as some writers subject us to in order to add pages. But exciting plots that just do not quit. My hubby is quite forgiving of my passion for these characters. Yes...there is some tasteful description of perfectly appropriate lovemaking between partners that are committed to one another. And being a Christian I am satisfied that it is not prurient but only a fact of life. Thank you for hitting the perfect mix.

This was the last May McGoldrick book I've read out of eight but there will be another one and another one to read after I read the next one. The Intended tells the story of Jamie MacPearson and Malcolm MasLeod who in past books were children growing up. Jamie declared she would marry Malcolm but he marries another. The plot thickens with Catherine Howard's entrance into the plot. What an awful woman who is to marry an awful man, Henry the Eighth who will hopefully never know he is Jamie's father and who chopped off the head of Jamie's aunt, Anne Boelyn. Enjoy this book and read the previous books to this one. At the end of each book the authors give a chronology of their books to help you keep up with all their heroes and heroines.

What a great adventure story with a lot of steam. Without giving away anything I can say this was my favorite so far in the series. Jaime was raised by her Aunt Elizabeth Boleyn Macpherson and her husband due to the death of her mother Mary from sphyillus.
Her biological father was kept a secret with only a emerald ring on a chain to identify him if ever. Malcolm was also an orphan and raised by Macphersons and was educated and grew into a fine young man. Jaime forever was tagging along as a child and and she grew, also grew to love him romantically. Was their love finally brought to fruition? May McGoldrick can mix history with romance with such expertise. Read and enjoy!
