From the Back Cover
In the aftermath of WWI, Grace Abernathy is determined to reunite her family, crossing an ocean to convince her widowed sister to return home to England. Yet, in Toronto she discovers more tragedy--her nephew Christian in the custody of his paternal relatives, the formidable Easton family, who rejected Grace's sister because of her low social status.
Unconvinced the Eastons can be fitting caretakers, Grace uses an assumed name to secure the position of Christian's nanny and moves into the Easton estate. There she can observe the family up close, while ensuring Christian's well-being. In the course of her new role, she is shocked to find herself falling in love with Andrew Easton, the boy's guardian. Unfortunately, Andrew is promised to a spoiled socialite who is sure to make a terrible stepmother for Christian. Will Grace be able to protect her nephew . . . and her heart?
"Mason begins her new Canadian Crossings series with this engaging family drama set in Toronto in 1919, and featuring sharp character development, an exciting plot, and delightful, forbidden upstairs/downstairs romances. Readers will be charmed as they follow Toronto's elite through galas and carnivals, while exploring the challenge of finding true worth not in wealth or others' approval, but in the comfort of God's grace and forgiveness. Laced with inspiration, Mason's historical faith romance is an uplifting read."--Booklist starred review
"Book 1 in the Canadian Crossings series is a delightful romance with a strong thread of faith, mercy, and love. Mason adeptly moves her characters through heartbreak and disillusionment to emerge strengthened and renewed. An excellent book with twists of fate and the underlying courage to do the right thing regardless of cost."--Christian Market
"Mason sets up a very complex web of relationships between the Easton and Abernathy families, but they are seamlessly woven into the story. Each character is distinct and memorable . . . . The Best of Intentions is a moving examination of the emotions of mourning, complicated family dynamics and the way love can be a powerful, healing force." --Fresh Fiction

Having traveled from England to Canada in order to spend time with her widowed sister and infant nephew, Grace Abernathy is shocked beyond belief upon learning of her sister's death. Desperate to discover where her nephew has been relocated, Grace is appalled when a local pastor relays the message that the very in-laws who painfully shunned her sister Rose, now have custody of little Christian. The Eastons; wealthy, powerful, and not about to welcome Rose's sister onto their estate. There must be a way to confirm that her young nephew is being treated with lovingkindness.
Andrew Easton cannot move forward with his future until he is certain that his young ward has proper supervision. Ironically, following a chance meeting with a lovely young woman hobbling on an injured ankle, the same woman appears once again; this time in his home, as a prospective employee. Grace Foley has managed to capture the attention of Andrew's sister, making her a strong candidate for Christian's nanny. In spite of their differences in social status, Grace's gentle beauty simply adds to her mystique; she's certainly nothing like the pampered socialite that Andrew feels compelled to marry in order to gain his father's approval.
As Grace and Andrew navigate the troubled waters of truth vs. deception, can the best of intentions truly be enough?
What an inspiring beginning to Susan Anne Mason's new series of books!
Furthermore while reading this story I did get a tad frustrated with the hero but then I tried to put his actions in perspective of the times and I admitted most likely many wealthy men would or have done the same.. didn't rock the boat too much. Family honor meant much more in those times compared to today's standards. So, while reading this story keep this in mind.
This maybe a spoiler alert: The only thing I would change is how the book ended. It never closed the relationship between mother and daughter even though the book states that they will travel to England . I think I would have like to see a chapter or two regarding the couple traveling to England to see her mother and to put closer on that relationship that was needed. Other than that, I really enjoyed this read.
I have already started book two and book three is on the shelp!
Treat yourself to an amazing read!!!
